Monthly Musings in April
It's the last Thursday of the month and time for Monthly Musings with Holly and Patty. This month we're talking about all things spring. We are still waiting rather anxiously for spring to arrive in our area and enjoying the occasional nice day before we get more cold weather and rain.
1. I love that the days are longer and the sun is shining more. I love seeing all the flowers in bloom and watching the birds slowly making their way back to our feeders. Mostly I love getting to sit outside on the deck and wear my flip flops.
2. I don't think we really have any spring traditions.. we tend to clean up the yard and pull all the patio/deck furniture out of storage, I'll plant some flowering pots for our front steps, and we swap out clothing from winter to spring.
3. I don't feel like I've been wearing many spring outfits this year but some of my favorites from this past month include:
4. I love a good pasta primavera loaded with fresh veggies!
5. Ordinarily I'd say I like a good spring rain but this year our entire spring has been more rainy than sunny (and pretty cold too so it doesn't really feel like a spring rain) so this year I am loathing it. Spring just has not felt like spring at all this season.
6. If we're talking about ones that actually bloom where I live I'd have to say the tulip; in every color and variety!

7. I do get seasonal allergies and I have learned that I have to start taking my allergy medicine pretty early in the season. I use an over the counter one like Allegra and while it doesn't get rid of them entirely it works well enough.
8. That's easy my favorite beverage year round is iced tea (sweetened!)-- though I really only get to order it at restaurants when I'm in the south.
9. Not really, I do put a pretty wreath on the front door but that's about it.
10. Strawberry shortcake for sure!... but our strawberry season isn't until July so it's really more a summer thing up here.

Yes to strawberry shortcake and beautiful tulips! We are setting up our deck right now and can't wait to spend more time outside!

Yay! I love spending more time outside.
DeleteThat blue off the shoulder top is so pretty! The pasta primavera looks good. I have never made that but may have to change that! I hope your weather turns a corner there really soon... Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI loved your spring outfits and the wreath on your front door! You reminded me that I need to take the bunny down from mine. I completely forgot it was there!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteYour deck is the perfect spot to read and get some sun!
ReplyDeleteIt sure is!
DeleteThe tulip field is so beautiful and wish I had a strawberry shortcake now!! Love your wreath!
ReplyDeleteThis had me craving strawberry shortcake too.
DeleteI love a lot of the same things as you about spring. I like your outfits but I haven't worn my flip flops yet. I think we are getting warmer temps next week and I can't wait.
ReplyDeleteI know; I am so excited that it should warm up for a few days!
DeleteI bet you have some fresh local strawberries in your area. The tulips are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! We usually go pick a few flats and make some jam as well as lots of other yummy strawberry recipes.
DeleteI took allergy medicine yesterday thinking my ongoing cold is allergy related, and then I was sleepy all day!
ReplyDeleteOh I hate that; I've been so tired lately that I've been skipping my allergy meds (I'm sure it's going to catch up to me sooner or later though).
DeleteYour food is always looking delicious. I hope spring shows up for you.

Aw, thank you!
DeleteTulips are my favorite! I love your front door wreath - perfect for spring!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm surprised it's held up so well-- we're going on year 3 with that wreath! I'll have to start looking for some new flowers to make a new one for next year.
DeleteBeen away from all things blogging for so long. Enjoying catching up with everyone. So glad to see you are back on the patio...where's the yogurt and fruit for breakfast?? I am having that everyday now and often think of you when I eat it. Gracias.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pictures of tulips from your trip a few years ago. We just don't have beautiful blooming flowers here. And I do miss them. Hoping my cactus will bloom!!
Hope the boys are all well. You look stylish, slim and trim. I keep saying I am going to get back to Weight Watchers - every Sunday night - then Monday rolls around and nope!! Big hugs.
I still have fruit and yogurt most days but it's still much too cold to eat breakfast on the patio-- so far I've only sat out there a couple of afternoons when the sun his at it's warmest. I dropped my WW app entirely in December (or maybe early Jan?) because I really wasn't using it anymore. I just focus on mostly eating plants.
DeleteYour tulips are so pretty. My girls and I went to the tulip fields outside of Seattle a few years ago and it was spectacular. Question-is your Tuesday link up just bloggers linking one of their own posts they want to share from the week prior? I am trying to kinda sorta organize some blog dates and am looking at various link ups to see what everyone is doing these days. I'm about five steps behind but am hanging in there with my blog because I enjoy it so much.
ReplyDeleteYep! Any family friendly posts are welcome to link; they don't even have to be new posts as old posts are welcome too.
DeleteOh I love your wreath. Thanks for joining us today and I hope spring reaches you soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteMy husband's favorite dessert for his birthday when he was growing up with strawberry shortcake. I still make it for him occasionally
ReplyDeleteXoox

My husband's too!!
DeleteThe wreath on the front door is so pretty! And that strawberry shortcake looks so delicious!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteI was going to change out my wreath as it's more Valentine's than Spring, but there is currently a mama bird and her eggs so I will have to wait. Seasonal allergies? How about year round allergies? They never stop! I haven't had strawberry shortcake in years. My mom had the best recipe for shortcake, and I have it. But, I just never seem to make it. Some day!

Oh wow; I have never had a bird make her home in one of my wreaths before! I can not imagine having year round allergies; that would drive me nuts.
DeleteThat's the real start of spring, to get out the lounge set and decorate that area!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely!
DeleteTulips!! I love them! And that strawberry shortcake looks delicious! Thankfully, this last month, our weather has been really nice. Boys still battling with allergies but that should taper down soon.

Thank you! I am so glad to hear you have had such nice weather; that usually makes for more fun in spring.
DeleteSweet tea is definitely a favorite down here! If I ask for sweet tea up north they look at me like I have two heads. Haha.
ReplyDeleteExactly! I love visiting the south because it really can feel like a whole different world. I often joke that I was a southerner born in the north.
DeleteThose tulips are beautiful! I like sweet tea occasionally and it is best in the south!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThe view from the dock looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYour wreath screams spring to me! Love all of those tulips- tulips make me happy and I think spring too :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
