Fashion Files: My Latest Stitch Fix

I don't often share my Stitch Fix boxes with you... mostly because I don't think to take photos.  But my latest box (apparently my 20th!) was filled with lots of goodies and fun colors.  I has asked for some pants in fun colors since the majority of my winter wardrobe consists of jeans and black leggings.

I'm at the point where I don't need and can't fit any more jeans or sweaters in my closet and yet I do love them and tend to keep them if they fit so I knew I didn't even want to try any of them on.  My stylist did a great job with finding some fun colorful pants and pairing them with a lovely floral blouse.

The colors made me smile! Blue, purple, teal, maroon.. I love them all.

I began trying on each item.  As I put on each pair of pants I thought about what else I could wear with them from my closet.

These navy pants were my favorite and the since the purple pair was the same style, brand, and size I knew I was going to love those too!

The only pair I didn't like were these teal ones... I was so bummed! I loved the color and the material.  But I felt like the thigh areas were just too tight and while all the pants were a tad long on me these had really long legs and I would need to hem them.

I decided I should probably send them back.

However, when I went to check out, I discovered it was actually more than $20 cheaper for me to keep the pants I wasn't in love with and take the discount than to return the pants.  That seemed like a no brainer to keep the pants.  I figured if I couldn't come up with anything to wear with them I could always donate or consign them.

BUT, I decided to try treating the pants more like leggings and find an outfit that showcased the fun color but hid my thighs and the first outfit I came up with I just fell in love with!

This will make a perfect date night outfit; complete with heels so I don't even have to hem them!

  2. I love all the colors! I feel like I need pants options, too. I am wearing either jeans or Matilda Janes to work - and that's fine but other pants for non-work would be good.

  5. They all look great even the teal ones, I love the way you styled them to hide what you didn't really like about them. The colours are fantastic.

    1. I was so bummed that I didn't LOVE the fit because straight out of the box they were my favorite. But I did wear them this weekend with the long shacket and they were perfect for our date night out.

  20. Jo you have soooo many clothes! Or maybe you just know how to do lots of combinations? I love seeing you modelling your outfits in your different posts - you're much better at taking selfies than I will ever be - how I look in the mirror compared to how I look in a photo always seems to be poles apart! I loved all the colours - they're my favourites too.

  23. Joanne,
Love everything that you received!! And the colors are so pretty...I am not buying anything new as I am still on my weight loss journey ad do not want to spend the money, hoping that I will lose more weight...I have enough clothes now to see me through and I really do not go out much since I retired so I do not need a lot of clothes....Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and for letting me know that you did by leaving a sweet comment!! What is it with men and camera's, huh??? LOL!

  29. What fun colors you got! How strange that it was actually less expensive to keep the pants than to return them? But, the outfit you created with them is gorgeous! So, it was a good thing you had decided to keep them.

    1. Stitch Fix gives a nice discount if you keep every item in the box so it's rarely worth it to return just one unless it's a super expensive piece. But yeah I am really glad I kept those!
