December's 10 on the 10th (on the 8th)

Once again it's nearly time for one of my favorite link ups of the month. This month Marsha came up with some fun Christmas Would You Rather questions!

1. Oh that is a tough one; I love both Christmas trees and Christmas cookies... but if I had to pick one I'd give up Christmas cookies (I could still eat cheesecake, and brownies, and other chocolate treats!) and still not have to give up my beautiful Christmas trees.

2. While I do love having a bunch of gifts to open, I would take 1 fabulous gift over 10 mediocre gifts any day of the week.  Heck, this year I don't even have a gift to open and I'm totally fine with that knowing we have a fabulous trip to look forward to in the new year.

3. I have no idea what cranberry salad is but I'm thinking Christmas cookie icing would eventually wash out easier than anything with cranberries so I'll go with icing!

4. I try to surprise my people AND shop from their lists but I'd much rather pick something from the list I know they'll like rather than pick out something I think they might like and find it still sitting in the box a year later..

Like this sound machine I bought for my son 2 years ago that he still has never used..

5. Our holiday season lasts 3 days and as much as I indulge in all sorts of sweet treats throughout the month of December I am usually pretty sugared out by the actual celebration time so I'm totally fine with just eating the main courses (of course it doesn't hurt that 2 of our celebrations are brunches and we don't have desserts per se at those-- and no I do not count muffins or cinnamon rolls or chocolate drizzled croissants as dessert. LOL!).

6. Elf; definitely Elf. While I don't mind a Christmas Story it is definitely not a favorite of mine.

7. All I Want for Christmas is just fine by me... though I rarely think to listen to Christmas music at all.

8. I hate to admit it but I think I do have more of an evil cackle most of the time... and honestly I'd rather that than a Santa Ho Ho HO laugh.

9. I struggled with this one as I so rarely "mix" colors or metals. I love red and I love green but not worn together- however if I had to pick between red and green or silver and gold I'd pick red and green I guess.

  1. Fun questions to think about! I agree with a number of your answers. Love your answer to the first question- absolutely!

  2. Such fun questions...I thought about the icing versus cranberry salad and I would do the salad because I am banking on citrus being in it and having a clean smell- I am afraid I wouldn't get the icing out of my hair- the things that keep us up at night- ha!! Have a great weekend :)

    1. That is very true! The citrus would smell better.

  3. Oh my gosh you know I love a would you rather and this was so much fun!

  4. Oh wow, I guess someone forgot that not everyone celebrates Christmas! The questions and your answers are fun though!

    1. I did think of you when I saw this month's questions since I know you like to participate but don't celebrate Christmas. :(

  5. So, I found a cranberry salad recipe in my grandmother's cookbook and I'm planning to try making it this Christmas. This particular one involves Jello.

The holiday “Would you rather” game is fun. My answers are:
    1. I would rather Christmas Trees. This was hard because Christmas cookies are so good. But the cookie will disappear but the tree and the pleasure it gives will last.
    2. I’d rather have one amazing gift.
    3. This question is funny, but hands down I would rather wash my hair with Christmas cookie icing.
    4. Shop from their list.
    5. I’d rather eat dessert all season.
    6. Elf.
    7. “I want a hippopotamus for Christmas” would be the song of choice.
    8. I’ll take the Grinch cackle.
    9. Hmm, red and green or silver and gold?? I’m going to pick silver and gold because it makes me think of the Christmas Rudolph cartoon movie.

  6. I love the holidays but would easily give up the cookies because that's the last thing we need during this season, haha.
And to think I used to have a sweet tooth, haha.

  7. I wear a black dress with santa's on it so I guess green & red as I only get to wear it to Xmas parties - so while it gets about 4-5 wears in december, it sits in the cupboard all year round. #WeekendCoffeeShare

  8. Elf, for sure and for certain!! I do think I would give up a tree before cookies. Sad but true. I LOVE cookies:) And...what is cranberry salad??!?

    1. I think I am so spoiled having a baker in the house that I figured I could eat cookies at other times throughout the year. Plus my sweet tooth doesn't discriminate between desserts. :) I have no idea what cranberry salad could be! LOL.

  9. Oh, I love your answers, Joanne! And, I like the way you think about muffins and cinnamon rolls not being dessert!! Thanks for playing along. I hope you'll like up on the 10th!

  11. Joanne,
Loved reading your answers!! Trees definitely over cookies as I only eat cookies at Christmas anyway. I give money or gift cards and I also receive the same as we no longer exchange "gifts" with our sons and Joe and I stopped giving each other gifts about 20 years ago as we just buy what we want when we see it...Thanks so much for stopping by!! Yes, I am relieved that all my decorating is done and I also have all my "gifts" ready to go. I do have to do some baking...was going to cut back on what i cut back on last year but I realized that I give away most of my cookies so I will make what I made last year....Have a great weekend!!
    Hugs,
    Deb

  12. What fun questions! My answers would be:
    1.Christmas Trees
    2. One Amazing gift
3.Christmas Cookie Icing, because it would smell so good
4.Surprise Gifts, I hate shopping from lists, but I do cause they get mad if I don't
5.Main course..eating all that dessert would make me sick
6.Elf, definitely Elf. No matter how many times I watch it, he makes me laugh.
7."All I want for Christmas" because I never heard of the other song.
8."Ho Ho Ho" because Christmas is suppose to be cheerful
9.Silver and gold because I never really liked the red and green combo.

  14. This was so fun to read! I have a lot of the same answers but think I'd prefer cranberry salad (whatever that may be LOL) instead of icing. I don't like to eat icing and wouldn't like it in my hair. But think I'd like the fresh feeling and scent of the cranberry salad, and I'm sure there'd be some benefits in doing that!! I wouldn't mind wearing red and green as long as I can choose the shades of red and green. There are lots of variations in those colors. But I think I wouldn't mind wearing silver and gold either.

  15. I enjoyed reading these Q&As and you do have a beautiful Christmas tree. Thank you for your weekend coffee share.

  16. Tree looks amazing. I know what you mean by being sugared out. I'm definitely starting to feel the extra eating!

  17. These were fun Jo - but I'm very glad they weren't serious choices - some of them I'd want neither of - especially the Christmas songs and movies!

    1. I always like when they are fun and silly choices too... and often my first reaction is "neither!" but figure that would make for a boring blog post.

  18. That was a fun list of questions. Most of my answers would probably be the same as yours, except for a few that were different.

  19. I was thinking very much the same on the first question - there's lot of other sweets besides the cookies, and I would not want to give up my tree! Happy Holidays!

  20. I would do the cranberry salad because I think it would be less sticky! Also, I won't have gifts to open this year either (maybe one from my parents) but I don't even care!

    1. I don't care either... I find that as I get older I care less and less about opening gifts.

  21. I love Christmas trees but it's been years since we've had one in the house because of space and right now my kitchen is getting remodeled so it's a mess. But the nice thing about where I live is that I could go to a mall or a shopping area to admire a tree. Since I don't have a kitchen right now, I miss baking cookies. Then again, it's my excuse to go to a bakery.

  22. Once again, I missed 10 on the 10th. THis one looked like a fun one and I enjoyed your answers. I just could not seem to juggle all that was happening and getting ready to leave on vacation on the 14th :( Hopefully I can somehow find time to get back to these.

  23. I'd totally give up Christmas cookies, too. I could never give up trees!
