Currently... November 2023

Now that it's the first Wednesday of the month it's time for the November edition of Currently with Jennifer.   This month we're looking at we're currently loving, buying, prepping, excited for, and planning.  For some reason I really struggled with ALL of these prompts this month.

Loving-- Early mornings on the lake are my favorite this time of year.  We either get foggy/moody morning that brighten as the clouds give way to sun or bright sunny days with super calm waters that lead to beautiful reflections.

Buying-- We broke down and bought a new oven this weekend; it will be delivered tomorrow and I'm kind of excited since we decided to get a double oven (after learning that the part we've been waiting for the past month was on a national backorder).  The appliance store felt bad and agreed they had mishandled it so they gave us a great deal on the new one!

Prepping-- Apparently I will be spending the next month prepping and painting walls.  We had to fix the boys' bathroom which required cutting a hole in the hallway wall as well so I need to repaint the bathroom and the hall.

While we were replacing things we decided to move the shower head up an entire foot too.

Excited for-- Evan starts driver's ed tomorrow and I'm getting a little bit excited about the holidays coming up too.

Planning-- I have big plans for all the baking I plan to do this weekend; apple pie, bread, and 2-ingredient WW bagels are first up on my list!

  5. You will love that new oven, especially the smaller oven. We have a double, with one of them smaller. It is so nice to just heat a smaller space for little things!

    1. Yeah, the small one is an air fryer where you don't even need to preheat it. I'm excited for that.

  6. I love the lake this time of year too. We often have warmer water than air and I love the moodiness of the 'smoke on the water' early morning. Happy cooking! I've never made my own bagels.

  10. Your lake views are amazing, Joanne! Your new oven looks like you'll be having lots of fun with it! I miss the DIYing of new bathrooms. Mike feels like he'd rather pay someone to do that kind of work these days. I hope you'll post photos of the new bathroom!

  12. Hi Joanne, wow that lake - how lovely it is and beautiful photographs! A new oven is definitely exciting and doing up the bathroom will be rewarding. 13. I love that water view! Is that right off of your deck? I also love to see a foggy morning, especially when it hovers over water like that. I smiled when I saw the picture of your boys in the hallway- your house is so similar to mine! Such tall boys fill up a hallway and shower don't they? That was smart to move the head of the shower up like that!

    1. Yep; though I often take photos out of my bedroom window too (pretty sure the bottom two are taken out of the window). Thanks! My middle son asked if we could move up the shower head since he has to duck so far to reach it! LOL. We figured this was the perfect time to do it.

I hope you are getting on well with your new oven, I think we might be buying a new one soon as the door on ours keeps falling off. lol

  18. Love those outdoor pics!! All of our kitchen appliances stopped working one right after the other so we had to buy all 4 new again. The new stove has an air fryer as well as a regular oven. I still haven't gotten good at using it but am trying which is hard to do when you don't enjoy cooking or baking :) Thanks so much for linking up at the #UnlimitedLinkParty 136. Pinned.

    1. Thank you! That suck about all your appliances (though we built our house so we have found that things often die and need replacing all at the same time too!). So far I am not loving my new oven and how it's baking... but I will keep working on it until I get it right.

    2. Yeah, our appliances were new when we built the house and just like clockwork, one by one they stopped working. I remember when appliances, especially refrigerators, washing machines, and dryers would last 25 yrs or more!! Not these days though. Hope you get to liking the oven. The only thing I've been successful with in the oven's air fryer are potato chips but had to experiment a bit.

    3. Right!? Now I'm happy if they last 5-10 years. It's crazy.

  21. Beautiful pics of the lake! We live right on a canal so the foggy mornings feel really atmospheric. I love it!
Yay for the new oven! You needed a medal to do so well without one. :)
