Currently in October

 It's the first Wednesday of the month and time for Currently with Jennifer.  This month we're looking at what we're currently loving, excited about, watching, dreaming, & observing. 

loving-- We've found quite a few new hiking trails in the last month and I am loving having all these new places to explore.




excited about-- Next week Evan, my mom, and I are leaving for a trip to North Carolina to see my sisters and their families!           

watching-- We are currently watching the latest season of Only Murders in the Building & Billions.  I'm still making my way through Blue Bloods and started watching The Exes. 


dreaming -- I've been dreaming of baking up all sorts of treats-- blueberry muffins or boy bait, pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, apple pies, etc... but our oven has been broken and I can't.  Though it's not easy to remember and I have even gone so far as to pull out all the ingredients before remembering I can't use it.

    Leaves are starting to change here, too- so pretty! I hope your oven gets fixed soon. While there is never a good time for a major appliance to go out, prime baking seasons have to be among the worst times. It sounds like you have some treats planned for when you get it back. I have never heard of boy bait- I will check it out!

      Thank you! I'll have to call them tomorrow and see if the part came in yet then my husband should be able to fix it over the weekend. I can't wait!

      It really is such a beautiful time of year for hiking; though a bit wet and muddy this year we're making the best of it on these sunny days!

    I'm hoping the leaves change color here. Sometimes they all turn brown and fall without ever getting nice!

      Yes, some years they do have a tendency to do that and I think that's caused by dryness (though I'm not 100% on that); we've had a pretty rainy season so it SHOULD be a colorful year.

      I haven't seen my oldest sister in over a year and my youngest has been well over 2 years so I am really excited!

    I totally forgot it's Currently today, will have to catch up tomorrow. Sorry about your oven, I just baked pumpkin bread for the first time in ages yesterday. The photo of the lake with the single branch with orange foliage is beautiful. Your North Carolina trip sounds fun!

      Oh yum, I love pumpkin bread; though oddly I've never made it myself. I think that needs to change this year.

    I'm surprised you're discovering new hiking spots with all the hiking you and your family do! My baking supplies are low, and I keep forgetting to order more. Hope your oven is fixed soon.

      Boy bait is like a blueberry coffee cake but it is baked in a 13x9 pan so it makes more than the usual coffee cake recipe. Thanks for hosting!

Do you remember the TGIF lineups on Friday nights? I can remember planning sleepovers and time with friends around TV Show lineups of our favorite shows... or else trying to set the VCR to record our favorite shows if we weren't going to be home. Throwing a Fabulous 70th Birthday Party at the Last Minute

 I threw a 70th birthday party for my mom at rather the last minute.  Mid- December or so my sister texted me that since it was my mom's 70th this year we should do something to celebrate.  My husband and I were leaving on our cruise the weekend of her actual birthday so I offered to host something New Year's Eve. That gave me about 2 or so weeks to prepare (thankfully I was all set for Christmas!).  I immediately hopped on Amazon and found some cute and pretty rose gold 70th birthday themed decorations and sent out some e-vites.  Between my sister, my step-father, and I we all agreed it was best to keep the guest list to just family.  So I settled to working on the menu.  We have lots of new food allergies in our family that I tried to work around while also keeping some of my mom's favorites in mind.  We settled on: smoked spiral ham and some plain smoked chicken (that my husband offered to cook on the smoker) a baked potato bar with bacon, cheese, chives, sour cream, and

Things That Make Me Laugh

I loved the challenge of this week's list for our 26 lists link up.  I don't know about you but I really need to laugh more lately.  It's such a great stress reliever. 1.  Books-- I love a good funny book that makes me laugh out loud.  I haven't read one in a while but if you have any recommendations I'm all ears.  The last book I can remember making me laugh was the Un-Honeymooners. 2  The boys being silly. 3.  Watching shows like America's Funniest Videos or Family Feud. 4. My husband.  Most people don't realize it but he's actually pretty funny and often makes me laugh. 5.  Whenever my sisters/ family get together and we get to reminiscing (particularly if my Aunt Elaine is around) we end up laughing so hard at all the old family stories that we are all in tears by the end of the night.  It's fabulous. 6.
