My Favorite Dystopian Novels
Today's post is short and sweet, in talking about some of my favorite books and dividing them by genres I knew I had to include dystopian novels. I just love them! I honestly thought this post was going to include quite a few more books than it does; maybe because most of my favorite dystopian novels are series it felt like I had read far more than just the 5 listed here? I don't know but I do know these were all great.
However, I do love dystopian novels so if you have some suggestions I'm all ears!
4. The Testing
5. The Giver-- While this is part of a series also I have only read the 1st book in the series. I'm pretty sure I started reading the second and just didn't like it as much.
Very interesting for sure

ReplyDeleteI don't know the other ones but I loved the Hunger Games Books a lot!
ReplyDeleteOh I bet you'd really enjoy the others then as well. Hunger Games was my introduction to this genre as well.
DeleteI went through a dystopian phase and read the first three series you listed at some point.
ReplyDeleteI think I actually read the Matched series because of your summary of it!
DeleteHave you read the Hunger Games prequel? I need to check out the Matched series.
ReplyDeleteYES! I hated that I started feeling bad for Snow! LOL.
DeleteI haven't read any of these but they do sound interesting!

I have to be in the right mood but I do love a good dystopian series.
DeleteThe Giver was the very first one that came to mind for me when I saw the title of your post. I read that growing up and I loved it.
ReplyDeleteI thought I had read it years ago when I was in school but then when I was helping Alec with a school project on it his freshman year I couldn't remember much about it so I picked it up at our library to read (or perhaps read again?! I still wasn't sure even after I finished).
DeleteI've read the Hunger Games and Divergent series, but not the others. Added to my library list!
ReplyDeleteGlad you found some suggestions!
DeleteI just bought the latest Nicci French and Karen Slaughter. Can't wait to start!
ReplyDeleteGosh, I don't think I've ever read anything by either of those authors.
DeleteI loved the Divergent series and the Hunger GAmes. I'll have to check out the other ones,
ReplyDeleteXOXO

The only one I've read is The Giver and that was years ago. Does it count I watched all of the Hunger Games movies? Hahaha!!

LOL. My son read the books of the Hunger Games AFTER watching the movies when my husband and I were trying to fill him in on all the other little details the movies left out.
DeleteI love the Hunger Games and one of my other favourites is The Handmaid's Tale.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read that one yet but I have heard great things about The Handmaid's Tale!
DeleteThat's the same way I stumbled upon Harry Potter years and years ago (before I had my own kids).
ReplyDeleteThese sound very interesting!

Thank you!
DeleteI've discovered some new ones here! I agree with Kim, The Handmaid's Tale is sooooooo good! :)
ReplyDeleteI just added it to my library pick up list!
DeleteThis genre is not one my favorites but The Giver and The Hunger Games trilogy are favorite books. I felt the same way about the sequel to The Giver. Not sure I even got it finished. And that is often how I feel about books in a series. The first one will be sooooo good and the following books will be disappointments. But not so with The Hunger Games. Will check out the other suggestions you made. Maybe I will find some new dystopian novels to love.
ReplyDeleteI hope you do!
DeleteThe only two books I haven't read are The Giver and The Testing Trilogy. I enjoyed the other three series.
ReplyDeleteThe Testing Trilogy reminded me quite a bit of Hunger Games... in parts.
DeleteI always enjoy seeing what other people read. This is not my genre but I enjoyed the post. #MMBC
ReplyDeleteThank you!
