Winter Bucket List 2023

I started writing this post up while we were on Christmas break but just had not gotten around to adding photos and posting it on the blog until today-- all of which is a long way of saying that we've already done a few of these things! I know I could have crossed them off.. but decided I really didn't want to!

1. Go snowshoeing

2. Go see Cirque Du Soleil

3. Celebrate Alec's 17th birthday

4. Organize the laundry room to match the "image" in my head

5. Go sledding

6. Enjoy a family dinner in front of the fireplace-- take 2

7. Put together a new puzzle or two

8. Spend a day reading in front of the fire

9. Try some calligraphy and some Copic marker projects

10. Take some photos using the new tripod

11. Have a fun date night out at a "new" restaurant

12. Get caught up on scrapbooking

13. Use my photoball to take some wintery photos

14. Try 2 totally new card making techniques

15. Host a family game night with lots of yummy snacks

  1. Love this! I was thinking I should make a winter bucket list, but I haven't done it yet. One thing I am doing is trying to go in coffee shops and read for a bit on the weekends.

    1. That sounds lovely!... but I don't drink coffee so it just doesn't have the same appeal to me. :)

    1. I'm excited to get that photo ball out again; I always love the shots I take with it but then I set it aside and forget about it.

  3. This is a great list of things to do this winter! I look forward to hearing more about some of them. We love to try new food, so that's been a fun thing for us to do together this year. We've had two date nights so far in 2023, and I've loved them both! I resolved to make this the year of my husband and me, so we're dating more, and we'll be traveling more for little weekend getaways. Our first trip will be in March, when I'll be on spring break at my new job (when it eventually starts). I can't wait! We're going to Louisville, Kentucky to visit a friend and his wife, then we'll be doing a food and bourbon tour.

    1. That sounds like so much fun! My husband and I have a long weekend planned at Acadia National park this spring and I'm already planning what hikes and things we want to do (and where we might want to eat!).

    1. I had to laugh this weekend when my oldest son asked out of the blue if we wanted to play Scattergories and before I knew it the whole family was playing!

    1. They really are! I think we've seen a good 1/2 dozen of them and while they all have similar characteristics at the same time they are all such unique shows.

  13. Fun list to read! We don't have winter here but I would love to go sledding.
    Happy Wednesday, Joanne!

    1. Sledding is a lot of fun... and much more work than you would think trekking back up the hill with the sled in tow.

  14. I love this bucket list. Reading books by a cozy fire sounds so good! I'll have to remember some of these things when it's our turn for winter.

    1. I'm not complaining... but snowshoeing isn't looking so great this winter. We need at least 6 inches of groundcover to use them and (thankfully!) we haven't really had any snow to speak of yet.

  16. What a great winter bucket list! We usually do a summer bucket list, but this is a fun idea also!

    1. I try to do one for each season... I find I really need one in the winter because it's so easy for me to just get depressed and sit on the couch and eat and read... I really hate the cold.

  17. A great list here. Gave me some good ideas...thinking outside our "typical winter" box. Thanks! Here's to enjoying a lot of them!

  18. I love this list! I love that you have so many fun things planned. Cirque Du Soleil is going to be amazing!! We've seen several of the Cirque Du Soleil shows in Vegas and they are all fantastic!

  19. Oh, Joanne, you have inspired me to get back on the bucket list bandwagon. I used to love making my bucket lists. They inspired us to try new and different things. Ditto to almost all of the things on your list. I could almost copy it and make it mine. Except for the Cirque du Soleil and the snowshoeing. I had to look up Copic markers. Now I want some. And the scrapbooking...I am so behind!! Would love to try making fancy cards like yours. I stamp cards now and then. Maybe I could get some new stamps? Anyway, thank you for the inspiration. Will look forward to following along on your progress.

  20. I'm realizing now that I may not have a winter bucket list because I am a real "apres-ski minus the ski" kind of gal--aka staying warm and cozy indoors! :) Snowshoeing sounds cool though. I've gotten hurt skiing and my dad's gotten hurt sledding, so maybe snowshoeing is the way for us to go, haha.

    1. Ha! Me too! I've often volunteered to go skiing with my husband and read a book in the lodge by the fire all day... he never takes me up on that offer though. I broke my leg skiing when I was in the 4th grade and have never had any desire to ski again. Snow shoeing is a surprising workout but it's basically just walking so I can totally handle that!
