Cards and Scrapbook Pages I Made in January

I had a very creative January!  I do find this is typically the time of year I have the most time to sit and create and play.  With all the new crafting supplies I got for Christmas I was excited to jump in and decided to try quite a few new cardmaking techniques.  I finished up all the scrapbook pages from our Tennessee trip last year and have already sorted my photos to get started on our Disney pages from August.

Cards:

Double stencil technique

My first big project using Copic markers!

Trying a new technique using an essential glue pad and mica powders

another new technique using emboss resist called "Joseph's coat"

    1. I just whipped up a few more Valentine's card this past weekend but didn't get around to adding them to this post so they'll be shared on February's round-up I guess.

  5. I used to scrapbook when my kids were little and then stopped. It is something I should get back into since I loved it and want to finish the two books I started for them. I love what you have shared here.

  6. Do you come up with these ideas on your own, or do you have a book that you use for inspiration??

    1. Sometimes I come up with the ideas on my own, some I find inspiration for in books or on Pinterest, some I use old pages I've already made that I really enjoyed the look and layout of.

  9. You have been very creative! I don't do traditional scrapbooks anymore because they are taking up too much room but I did love making them!

  12. So much to love. Interested in what you thought of the Copic markers. When you mentioned wanting to get some earlier I went straight to Amazon to check them out and put a small set in my cart but haven't pulled the trigger on the purchase yet. From what I have read they are very blendable. Is that correct? Your roses are just gorgeous. Love the shading.

What tool do you use to cut the lettering and bear as in the last scrapbook page you shared? I have an old Cricut but it could never make such fine cuts. Just beautiful.

    1. I think the Copic markers blend reasonably well but I do tend to work in small areas and from lighter dark to light. From what I'm reading they run out of ink fast and need refilling often.. not a thought I'm loving after spending so much money on a single set. I think Stampin Up's Blender pens actually work better but hate that I can only buy them one color at a time.

I did use my Cricut for that last page; a few years ago my husband surprised me with the Cricut Maker and it does remarkably well with intricate cuts.
