Currently.. in November
It's the first Wednesday of the month and time for the Currently series with Jennifer from Overflowing with Thanksgiving. Each month we're given prompts for the next month's Currently.
Borrowing-- Nothing that I can think of!
buying-- All the supplies to make my Christmas cards. While shopping on Stampin' Up! website I switched out my card idea at the very last minute and plan on making some cute penguin cards.
Before purchasing anything I always dig through and see what supplies I have on hand |
planning-- Our menu for the month; at the start of every month we sit down and plan our all our meals for the month as a family. I've also started planning Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas/ Christmas gifts too.. Oh and I'm currently in the research stage of planning our family vacation for next year.
prepping-- Food/ Meals.... I feel like I am always prepping food. Each week we cut up large containers of fruit for breakfast & snacks for both my husband and myself. I make 2 huge salads that we eat nearly every night for dinner and I often eat for lunch. I usually make a crustless quiche once a week and hard boil a dozen eggs. I also like to cook up a big batch of veggies-- zucchini/summer squash, with onions and mushrooms that I tend to eat on the side of my quiche. Sometimes I feel like I LIVE in the kitchen but it's worth it to have healthy food option ready to grab and go.
This pineapple corer/slicer makes prepping pineapples a breeze! |
We always have this stack of containers in our fridge! |
Reading-- I'm currently reading 3 books-- The 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Mad Honey, and One Bad Apple and I am loving them all for completely different reasons. I just finished up The Night Burns Bright and that was SO good too!
Linking up with: On the edge,
You do a great job with food/ fruit prep. And your meal planning is impressive, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It was a huge change for us to implement a few years ago but it has made such a huge difference on how we eat.
DeleteI feel the same way - so much time in the kitchen when I am at home, but it's worth it! I love your fruit containers all filled and ready. I can't imagine being organized enough to plan for the whole month. Goals! I got a new meal planner pad and I am excited. Maybe I could start with 2 weeks worth. I would love to do the grocery every other week.
ReplyDeleteThis is Amy from Coffee and Cocktails, by the way!
DeleteI still can't make it more than a week between grocery visits since we use a lot of fresh produce BUT it does make my grocery shopping easier knowing what I'll need.
DeleteYour food prep and meal planning is always inspiring! Such a fun month for meal prepping right? :)
ReplyDeleteOhh! I hope you share your Christmas cards. The penguins look very cute.
ReplyDeleteYour month on the planner looks very busy. Have a great month. x
I definitely plan to share my Christmas Cards in December. I just got my box of supplies in last night so hopefully I can sit and play with them later this afternoon.
DeleteCan't wait to hear your thoughts on Mad Honey! Your meal planning and prepping is so smart!
ReplyDeleteI LOVED it!! I was so relieved to be back loving a Jodi book.
DeleteYou are so organized, very impressive!! I have one of those pineapple cutters, it's magic!!

How do you keep your salads from getting soggy during the week? When I make them in bulk they seem to go limp, when I don't...well then I don't eat a salad because it's a hassle to do it every time we eat. HELP!!
ReplyDeleteThe key is to make sure your lettuce/spinach whatever base you're using is nice and dry. Salads get soggy because of moisture-- that said that huge giant bowl will only last us 3 days tops. So we aren't storing it for very long either. My mom found that since it's just 2 of them and making a big salad ahead of time doesn't work for them either she preps each vegetable and then just keeps them in separate baggies/ containers so it's quick and easy to throw a salad together but she's not wasting nearly as many vegetables; maybe that would work better for you?
DeleteI LOVED The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. So so good. They're making a movie for it, too!
ReplyDeleteWe are planning a vacation soon too. I love planning.
ReplyDeleteI do too! I am such a planner at heart.
DeleteI would love to see your penguin cards when you get finished! It’s my favorite animal. 😊🐧
ReplyDeleteOh I will definitely be sharing them!... just as soon as I make them.
DeleteDo you have an entire post dedicated to meal planning? I want to get more organized. I might search your blog to find it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure that I do! But that would be a great idea for a blog post. I know I wrote one about meal planning & homeschooling when the boys were younger but a lot has changed since then....
DeleteThat food prepping sounds genius....and time-consuming! I would love to have ready to go healthy foods in my fridge! I need to work on this idea! And meal planning for an entire month...that is impressive. You get my organized girl of the month award:) Have fun making those cards!!
ReplyDeleteWe used to meal prep by the week but found that if we sit down once a month (usually during dinner itself!) and fill in each of the boxes it doesn't take us much time at all working together.
DeleteGosh, and I thought I was a planner. YOu definitely have me beat. and I agree about food and the kitchen. It makes all the difference though.

LOL! I am a planning queen.
DeleteThat is super organised on the food prep!! I've got that 7 Husbands to read too. Just not got to it yet #WWandP
ReplyDeleteI had it on my shelf for awhile before finally getting around to it but it was a fun and easy read.
DeleteYou are very organised with food prep and getting ready for Christmas! I downloaded 7 Husbands but haven't heard of the others. If you are keen we would welcome you linking up to our What's On Your Bookshelf? on the 3rd Thursday of every month. The link up is in my blog Women Living Well After 50.
ReplyDeleteI do link up with WOYB each month! It's a great way to find new books to read.
DeleteI am about to start 7 Husbands!
ReplyDeleteIt was an entertaining read (I just finished it yesterday!).
DeleteThat stamp set is so cute!! And your food prepping pictures are making me hungry! I had one of those pineapple tools but couldn't get it to work so I donated it.
ReplyDeleteI'm so surprised to hear that about the pineapple tool; it's one of the easiest kitchen tools I've ever used! So much so that I bought one for my mom and best friend "just because" since they like fruit too and we all hate cutting up pineapples.
DeleteI can only imagine with your growing men you would need to have a very well stocked fridge and pantry at all times. I love the planning too. Good going to be considering next year's vacation! Great to see you join in for Wednesday’s Words and Pics. Next week it will be the 10th one! I am enjoying our connections via blogging each week and hope you are too. Denyse.
ReplyDeleteOH yes, we go through a crazy amount of food each week!
DeleteWhat did you think of Mad Honey? I thought they go a bit overboard on the detail about bee-keeping. Picoult did something similar about Egyptology in her last book as well.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think she went nearly as in depth about the bee-keeping as she did about the Egyptology so I didn't mind it too much but I did feel like it took a bit away from the rest of the story which I was really enjoying. Overall I would say I loved the book. The Egypt one I never even made it past chapter 2.
DeletePenguin cards sounds so cute! Can't wait to see them.
ReplyDeleteKudos to you guys for planning food ideas out for the whole month! I have trouble planning for the week, and even then, I'm like let's just have a pizza because I don't feel like cooking, or I forgot to thaw the meat. LOL, oops!
Need to get myself one of those pineapple corers! I have one for apples, and it really makes prepping them a breeze. Pineapple is definitely a more tricky fruit.
Best Wishes,
Alexandra

I can't wait to see the cards either.... I have at least looked at my supplies and I have ideas percolating! I'm hoping to sit and create tomorrow.
DeleteI don't always cook what is on the menu for a given night on that particular night but I figure after grocery shopping I have a good 7 days worth of meals to pick from (and sometimes I may borrow a menu idea from another week too if I have those ingredients on hand). It's basically a loose guide...
I want to read Mad Honey. And I too feel like I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. It is really worth it though...
ReplyDeleteI could use just one ounce of your organization around food/meal prep! I am the worst with that because I only have the desire to eat when I'm hungry, but that, of course, puts you too close to "hangry" territory. I'm flying too close to the sun!
ReplyDeleteLOL. I am always thinking about food and my next meal. I think my boys all inherited that gene from me too even though none of us like actually sitting down to write out our menu plan.
DeleteYour card creations are always so pretty and fun. :-) I'm not very good at meal planning at all, but I AM planning for Thanksgiving dinner already, as I'll have to really partner with my kids to get it all ready. Visiting from Currently#16
