My Fall Bucket List

I am pretty excited about the arrival of fall.  While I love spring and summer too there's just something about that fall that makes me feel invigorated.  Those crisp temperatures, the crunch of leaves underfoot and the beautiful colorful leaves all around never fail to put a smile on my face.  In preparation of the new season I wanted to share my fall bucket list (all the photos used in this post are old ones from previous falls)!

1. Enjoy a weekend trip for Ben's birthday-- We're heading to Maine!

2. Go apple picking

Though I do miss these bright and eager helpers willing to pick any apple!

3. Make apple pie, caramel apples,  or enjoy some apple treats like cider donuts

4. Take a few "new" hikes

5. Watch the leaves change colors

6. Make casseroles, soups, and stews

7. Decorate the house for fall

8. Buy some mums

9. Take the boys annual photos

(2018 photo)

10.  Have a fire in the fire pit

11.  Read a good "fall" book

12. Watch some "fall" movies like Stepmom or When Harry Met Sally

13. Watch the sunrise

14. Take the RZR out for a few rides

15. Cozy up in front of the fireplace

16. Bake some maple glazed cinnamon bun or maple oatmeal cookies

17. Put together a puzzle or two

18. Make and listen to a fall themed playlist

19. Come up with a fall manicure

20. Buy a flannel shirt or shacket for fall

    1. Me too!... though I'm a little alarmed at just how quickly the cold weather is coming up here..

  2. You are so fortunate to have a front row seat to the beauty of the leaves changing colors right on your property. I know that some people travel to New England in the fall to see foliage. Does your area get an influx of people visiting from other parts of the country to see fall foliage? A fire in the fire pit sounds like fall perfection!

    1. We don't see a lot of uptick in tourists in our area; in fact my husband and I often travel to Vermont or New Hampshire ourselves this time of year! The fall weather is perfect hiking weather and we just can't resist even if we do get the pretty leaves here too.

  3. These sound perfect and you're reminding me that it's been a while since I read Crossing to Safety by Wallace Stegner, my favorite autumn read!

  6. I do love this time of year. The weather is not too bad and as much as I hate the cold I do love those crisp mornings.
What a great list. I have been getting fruit, mainly apples and pears off my dad's trees and baking with them. I need to try making caramel apples, yum, yum!
It sounds like you have some fantastic plans.

  8. Your bucket list sounds wonderful and loving all the photos from previous years! I never really make bucket lists but maybe I need to. Apple picking is my favorite fall activity, it's getting harder to go with the kids as they are older now but hopefully we can continue the tradition. Same with a fall hike. Even harder since my husband has to work every Sunday and with my daughter's dance schedule we only have Friday and Saturday afternoons.... Planning ahead is the only way I think!

    1. Yeah, my boys are not into picking apples (or any fruit anymore, really) but I still try to drag them at least once a fall.

    1. Oh I bet that takes awhile out there! We are already looking ahead at this week's forecast and it doesn't even look like our temps will reach 60 by week's end... which I will admit I'm a bit bummed about. I like the 60's & 70's!

  17. That's the best part about getting apples....the PIE!!! We used to have 3 apple trees in our back yard and my mom would make us pie after pie. Oh, those were the days,
