10 on the 10th: Summer Bucket List

Since this month's 10 on the 10th is all about things we want/ may do this summer I'm going to treat this as our summer bucket list.  Even though it feels a bit weird to me to be sharing our list so early I just had to so I could participate in Martha's monthly link up.

We already have some pretty exciting plans in place!!

1.  Large family vacation to the Smoky mountains. We're renting a cabin and plan to meet up with my sister and boys to explore the Smokey Mountains.  We're staying near Pigeon Forge so we'll probably spend at least a day exploring Dollywood as well; I haven't been back since I was a tween!  I'm hoping we'll have at least one or two days that are cool enough for hiking and I've been compiling a list of other ideas for things to do in the region.

2.  Our next BIG thing is we're FINALLY going to use our Disney/ Universal tickets from 2020 and so in late August we'll be exploring all the changes in Disney since our last trip in 2013 (you can read all about it here).  We'll also be spending two days at Universal & checking out the changes they've made since our last trip in 2014 (seen here).  Though Ian has elected to sit out this trip as he's much more excited about starting his new job; which I'm sad about but totally get and respect his decision.

3.  Go kayaking!  Oh I can not wait for out weather to warm up enough to get out on the lake.

4.  Celebrate my birthday! I'm turning 45 this year and while I am looking forward to a shopping day with my mom I'm also trying to think of something fun to do to celebrate a little bit bigger than normal.

5. Read and enjoy mornings out on the patio eating breakfast.

6. Take a few day trips with the younger boys.

7. Spend time with friends and family.

8. Go hiking!

9.  Eat lots of yummy treats and fresh fruits/ veggies.

10.  Watch some fireworks.

    1. We had a BLAST last time even though Evan couldn't ride much. We spent 95% of our time in the two Harry Potter worlds and it was amazing.

  4. What a great list! I don't live too far away from the Smoky mountains and we've talked about visiting but haven't yet. It looks like there are a lot of great hikes there! I'll be looking forward to hearing how your trip there is! It sounds fun!

  6. Sounds like a wonderful summer! I know what you mean about going separate ways with older kids. We won't really have a formal summer vacation this year with all of us together, but we'll make the time we have together work for the best!

    1. I knew it was going to happen sooner or later; I know once I hit college age I rarely ever went on vacation with my family again. But I know we'll still make plenty of time to spend together even if it's just a home.

  9. Joanne, you have the best summers! I could sit and read by the lake all summer long if I had a lake to sit and read by! Haha. I hope you come up with a spectacular way to celebrate your 45th birthday! My 50th birthday is in 2 years and we are planning a trip to the Netherlands for it! I’m gonna go visit Nancy!

    1. Oh that will be so much fun! My husband and I took a trip for our 40ths (we were born in the same year so that makes it easy to celebrate) and had the best time.
