Friday Favorites-- Happy April Fool's

How was your week?  Ours was very quiet.  Between having a bum/ hurt foot and some nasty cold weather returning we didn't do much this week.  I managed to pull a muscle or tendon in my foot and spent most of the week trying to keep my weight off of it... especially after hiking on Friday that just aggravated it.

Last Friday we met our hiking group at a new trail head; Leadmine/ Kinfe edge trail.  It was a really pretty walk and most of it was fairly easy-- except for the part where we had to climb up and walk along the ridge.  I mean we all liked it but that was definitely tricky.  We saw some really pretty water views though.  One of the ponds was this unbelievable tealy- blue color that was tricky for my camera to capture but just looked amazing in person.

The water was so clear; we could see right to the bottom-- that doesn't happen much here.

Alec ended up getting home several hours earlier from his SkillsUSA Baking contest than they had originally planned and I was so thankful since I was already so tired.  He brought ALL this food home with him-- a 4 layer chocolate/raspberry cake he decorated (that got smeared on the drive home), a braided loaf of bread, some scones (that crumbled and didn't make the drive home), and a peach pie (that also looked a bit worse for wear after tipping sideways on the ride home)-- what can I say bus rides are dangerous! LOL.  We still have no idea how he did though since they're heading back today for the awards ceremony-- fingers crossed for good results.  I think he did great!  In all honesty I just wanted him to have a good experience and he did so however he ranks I think we'll still call this a win.

Sunday after a quick trip to Michael's with Ian I worked on a few more scrapbook pages. I managed to get all the layouts done and even got 6 full pages completed by week's end with titles, embellishments and put into scrapbooks.

I used another sheet of Color Street wraps to do my nails this week and this glitter was so sparkly!  I loved it.

With weather back in the 20's this week we got the woodstove going again and I spent many afternoons in the basement keeping warm, reading my books, resting my foot.

My foot was feeling better by Thursday so Evan and I headed out on what was supposed to be a short little hike. We ended up hiking over an hour and half and I think I definitely overdid it as my foot was hurting again by the time we reached the car.  I just couldn't help myself; taking photos while hiking in the misty fog is hard to resist!

Can you see the cardinal?

  7. I loooove the sparkly nails! I always do sparkly around Christmas time and it's always my favorite. Sorry about your foot. That is such a bummer. I've been having some pain in my right big toe and some days it's been pretty bad. I'm hoping it doesn't get irritated with all of the walking we'll have to do at Disney.

    1. I hope not either! Worse case rent a little motorized wheelchair thing-- LOL. Bonus though you'd get to cut to the front of most every line. We've had family that have had to Disney in wheelchairs and while it is a hassle it's also kind of great.

My feet is slowly feeling better and I'm still trying to stay it off it when I can. I think he did real well with the baking contest and he's already looking forward to "next time."

  24. Love the photos of the lake...and I am sorry about your foot. Anything that stops us doing what we love is such an nuisance! Scrapbooks. I love that you still do yours and I do an amended type now that are not as weighty. I got very conscientious before our 50th Wedding Anniversary early 2021 to consolidate them.
