April Showers with the Ageless Style Group

This month's theme of April Showers was selected by Leslie and at first I thought I wasn't going to participate.  I have no rain boots, I rarely think to use any umbrella and I had forgotten that I had finally purchased a rain coat last summer.

But even once I saw my raincoat I wasn't sure what to do with it... I don't normally think of styling an outfit around my raincoat; I just throw it on when I'm going hiking and it looks like it might rain.  I mean I did make sure my raincoat matched my hiking boots but since I wore a hiking outfit for last month's challenge with sweatshirts I really didn't want to style another hiking photo.

We had lots of rainy days though and I finally rose to challenge and had my youngest son take a few photos while we were out hiking-- but I made sure to carefully plan my outfit and I'm pleased with what I came up with.

When we saw this small body of water, Evan suggested it would make a good backdrop for our photos and he quickly snapped a few.

I paired my new North Face raincoat with a turtleneck sweater in nearly the same shade, some very comfortable jeggings, and my white canvas sneakers.

I tend to wear my sunglasses in almost all weather since my eyes are pretty sensitive to light and I never know when I'm going to need them.

I added a long silver necklace that also some shades of green in it and a pair of silver lacy earrings.

Thankfully, it didn't end up raining while we were out hiking though as the trails were already quite muddy and wet from all the other rainstorms we'd been having.

Make sure you pop in and see how these ladies all styled their rain gear (or rain inspiration) outfits.

    1. I had a pair once but I just did not like how they felt walking in them and have never tried another brand or style... maybe I should give it another go? I used to hate boots of all kinds and have started wearing them more. I might not mind them so much now.

  7. I adore your hiking photos, it makes me wish I hiked more honestly. Your son is such a sweetie to not only take your photos but to be on the lookout for great backdrops. He is a keeper. Love the added necklace for a little pop of sparkle to your overall look. You can stop in and grab a coffee or lunch, totally dressed for it.
