My Spring Reading List

This past winter I shared a winter reading list and really enjoyed having a list of books on hand for inspiration when I finished one book.  I thought it would a lot of fun to create a list of spring reading books too!  I am trying so hard to read books from my Kindle and my own collection so that is where I found almost all of these! I do treat my reading lists as more of a bucket list kind of thing so I'm Okay with it if I don't end up reading them all and find others to read instead.

1.  A Place for Us by Harriet Evans-- I have this book in my top drawer and I'm pretty sure I picked it up at the used book store.  I love the floral print cover and it sounds intriguing.  Martha is turning 80 and while writing out the invitations to her big birthday bash is thinking over how her big reveal at the party is going to shock everyone.  It sounds like one of those family reunions filled with secrets and angst and I usually enjoy those a lot.

2. The Paper Garden: An Artist Begins Her Life's Work at 72 by Molly Peacock-- I got this book from Shelbee quite some time ago.  I was really intrigued by this artists works and the fact that she began her life's work at age 72.  I just figured spring was the perfect time to read about Mary Granville Pednarves Delany and pour over the picture of her work.

3. The Paid Bridesmaid by Sarah Wilson--  I just started this book last Wednesday and I think it's really cute.  Rachel is a bridesmaid for hire and while working a wedding finds herself drawn to the best man. He seems equally intrigued by her but Rachel knows that she can not let him get too close or risk blowing her whole story and possibly her whole business plan.

4. Tahira In Bloom by Farah Heron--  17 year old fashion designer Tahira finds her plans going up in smoke and her parents decide it's the perfect chance for her to work for her aunt's boutique for the summer.  She immediately clashes with Rowan, the scruffy gardener from next door but soon finds herself teaming up with him to try and win the flower arranging contest that just might earn her a foot in the door again with New York's designers.

5. If You Must Know: A Novel by Jamie Beck-- I've had this book on my kindle for more than 2 years now and it's part of a series that I'm pretty sure I'm going to like.  Sisters Amanda and Erin have little in common-- one a perfectionist and another a bohemian just working on getting by.  While living in the same town they are content to lead separate lives until a lie is revealed that force them to confront the truth about their family.

6.  Someone Else's Secret by Julia Spiro-- another book that's been on my kindle for 2 years! While it sounds like a bit of a summer novel I know I'll be looking for beach-y reads come June.  Lindsay accepts a job on Martha's Vineyard working for Georgie's family as a nanny. The two become close but something terrible happens one night that shatters their budding friendship and the two don't get back together again for 10 years with the intent to confront the past and seek justice for what happened.  It sounds intriguing!

7. The Light Through the Leaves by Glendy Vanderah-- Ellis leaves her daughter Viola unattended for just a moment and when she returns Viola is missing.  Ellis fraught with guilt and grief escapes into addiction and leaves her husband and young sons behind one day walking into the wilderness alone.  In the woods lives Raven, a young girl with secrets about her mother who seems magical and her father who is frightening.  The two somehow meet and it's unclear what will happen but I am intrigued.

8. The Apology Project by Jeanette Escudero-- I started this story and only made it a few pages in... I do remember liking it and I can only assume I had other books that were due back at the library because I never finished it.  Amelia finds her life as an attorney blown apart and after a miserable birthday spent alone decides to make amends to all those she has wronged.

9. Nowhere for Very Long: The Unexpected Road to an Unconventional Life  by Brianna Madia-- This autobiography sounds so interesting! When Brianna packs up her dogs and husband into an orange van and head off into the wilderness.

10. The Homewreckers by Mary Kay Andrews-- I just love her books and her latest one slated to hit stores in May sounds good.  Hattie restores homes with her late husband's family and ends up falling in love with a money pit of a house that threatens to pull their family business under. Desperate for cash Hattie finds herself on a reality TV series "The Homewreckers." A mystery is uncovered and a detective starts poking around the case of the missing young wife and mother from years ago.  It sounds like complete chaos and it's bound to be both funny and a bit sweet in parts.

Do you have your eye on any books in particular for this spring?

  17. I admire you for reading books you've had on your Kindle! I have such a backlog there. I should just delete a lot of them because if I haven't read them by now, I'm probably not going to. lol. But then again, who knows? At least it doesn't clutter up my house to have them on my Kindle instead of filling up actual bookshelves. :)

    1. That's how I feel too! And I do like to grab my Kindle when we go on vacation since I can bring a lot of books with me without packing a suitcase full. There were many I was going to get rid of since I had never read them but as I'm working my way through them I am remembering why I picked them out in the first place and I am enjoying most of them.
