Spaghetti with 3 Meat Sauce
My mom always made a huge batch of this sauce growing up and it was always a family favorite as the smells simmering on the stove all day made us all so hungry! She got her sauce recipe from an Italian man she used to work with and while the sauce was yummy we all agreed that what really made it spectacular was all the different kinds of meat she put in there.
Her sauce recipe is one I have yet to actually get from her so I improvise using our favorite jarred sauce. Whenever I make this meal it's usually for a party or a large crowd so the recipe makes a lot but you can easily whittle it down or freeze 1/2 for a second meal at a later date.
It's so easy!
Ingredients:
2 jars spaghetti sauce (whatever kind your family prefers)
1 package sweet Italian sausage
12 meatballs (I have used homemade and premade before; whatever you prefer)
2 sticks of pepperoni with the skin peeled off and cut into large 2" chunks
2 boxes thin spaghetti
4 Tablespoon butter
In a large saucepan, I begin browning the Italian sausage. I usually cut them in 1/2 so we and up with a good 12 pieces of sausage. I don't worry about cooking them completely though as I know they'll continue continue cooking in the sauce all day.
While the sausage is browning I prepare the pepperoni. Then I place all three kinds of meat and the sauce into my large crock pot and let it cook on low all day long. The longer the better. I usually start cooking it around 6:30/7 in the morning and we eat around 5:30/ 6 at night.
About 15 minutes before serving I cook up 2 boxes of spaghetti according to the package directions. I give the crock pot a good stir to make sure any juices from the meat have been mixed in with the sauce.
When I drain the pasta I toss it with the butter to prevent it from sticking together and serve hot with the sauce.
Since each chunk of meat is a different size and shape it's usually pretty easy to figure out what's what so pickier eaters can make sure to only take what they like.

It's always a huge hit and for years was our family's Christmas eve dinner tradition.
