Weigh- In Wednesdays: Weight Watcher's Update, Meal plans, and Getting Back on Track

After much thought and consideration I decided I really NEEDED to bring back my Weigh-In Wednesday posts.  A quick re-cap for those of you that might not know... I joined Weight Watchers back in March of 2019.  My weight was at an all time high of 185 lbs. and I just felt awful about how I looked, how tired I felt all the time, how out of breath walking up the stairs made me feel.

I jumped in with both feet and by February of 2020 I had surpassed my weight loss goal of 150 to weigh in at 149.8.  Then the pandemic hit and we did a lot of baking so that by May my weight was back up to 155... I slowly began gaining back. A pound here and there.  Enough to concern me but not panic me.

Anytime I felt myself really back sliding I re-read all my Weight Watchers and Weigh in Wednesday posts to remind me of what had worked in the past and I looked to this photo for motivation:

I had surgery in the fall of 2020; my hysterectomy made it impossible for me to exercise for 2 whole months and by the time I was getting back to normal my weight was back up to 164.  And my working out stamina was gone.  A one hour hike left me tired and sore for days. I've slowly been working my way back to daily workouts and longer hikes but the weight is not budging.

Now overall that is still a 20 lb. loss; which is not bad but I really, really want to get back to my goal weight range.

Something I have been struggling to do ALL year.  Despite logging foods, staying in my blue dot range, and even adding in up to an hour of exercise most days the weight is just NOT budging.  I'm not really gaining and while I can objectively look at myself and like what I see in the mirror I know that I need to get back on track just for my own peace of mind.  I can feel those extra 10-15 lbs. and they need to go.

Last week I decided to switch to the Purple Plan so I could add in more healthy cards; a part of my diet I really left like I had been missing.  I was also hopeful that having fewer daily points would curb my tendency to eat sugary treats. Something I know I have been indulging in waay to often.  I am perfectly happy eating zero point foods all day if I can have cake or cookies but in the long run it just does not work. A little indulging always leads to more.

I switched to the Purple plan on Thursday and wrote up a grocery list.  Here's how I've been doing and what I've been eating since:

Thursday I worked out using the 30 Day Shred video for a full 20 minute workout.

I ate my typical fruit and yogurt with granola using a Stop and Shop brand of low- fat granola for a 3 point meal. I also made sure to drink my whole 30 ounce Yeti of water before noon.

For lunch I had a large salad with grilled chicken, skinny girl poppyseed dressing, sliced peaches-- 0 points!  I did have a handful (21 pieces) of Ritz Salt & Vinegar thin crisps for 4 points and made myself a Crystal light iced tea for 1 point.

Afternoon snack consisted of my usual assortment of fruits, veggies, and lean protein.

Dinner was a shrimp stir-fry over cauliflower rice for another zero point meal.

Friday is my weigh in day and I certainly didn't expect to see any results after just one day.  I had another yogurt parfait meal for breakfast, leftover shrimp stir-fry and cauliflower rice for lunch, another snack plate (this time with rolled deli turkey and a weight watcher's cheese stick.

I had one waffle for dinner with some light turkey sausage scrambled eggs and fruit (this 9 point meal is why my others were so low in points the rest of the day).

The whole family had hot fudge sundaes after we went grocery shopping and I contented myself with literally one bite of ice cream and a yogurt bar instead.  These new ones I tried are soo good; and no salty at all.

Saturday I packed my yogurt parfait to eat in the car while I drove with my husband to get our RZR looked at but he assured me we'd be home by lunch.  We were and I had a salad with grilled chicken and a peach again.  Dinner was roasted potatoes, crock pot turkey breast, veggies and salad.  Even with another yogurt bar for snack I had 4 points leftover.

Sunday I decided to break my breakfast streak and I had an omelet made with fat free cheese, broccoli and mushrooms with some mandarin oranges (1 point for the cheese). We ate lunch out at the pub99 and I tried their twin catch with asparagus.  It was a 9 point meal that I just felt was not worth the 9 points. I was hungry afterwards and thought my fish and shrimp mostly tasted like melted butter.  For dinner I made a turkey burger on lite Sarah lee bread for just 6 points and served it with salad, diced potatoes and diced butternut squash fries.

My husband and I went for an hour long walk after dinner so I treated myself to an 1/8 cup of ice cream for 5 points.

I knew we were having chicken, broccoli, and rice casserole for dinner on Monday which is 6 points (when made with Brummel and Brown spread, fat free cheese, and light mayo) and so I planned my day around that.

I had a yogurt parfait for breakfast (3 points), leftover turkey, squash, potatoes, and mushrooms for lunch with my Yeti of crystal light (1 point).

I did drag myself out of bed at 5 when my alarm went off and did a 30 minute stability ball workout before driving Alec to school.

I made myself jog on the treadmill for 25 minutes Tuesday morning and had another very healthy eating day.  I had my yogurt parfait for breakfast, leftover casserole for lunch and egg roll in a bowl for dinner (just 1 point!).

Just this bit of refocusing this week found the scale numbers down a pound and it hasn't even been a full week yet!

  3. That's great! Sounds like you are doing well. Any weight loss is worthy of being congratulated! I joined Weight Watchers last summer, so it is good to see your recap and what you're eating. I haven't done that well honestly since last November. I have enjoyed eating a lot more lately :). Those Enlightened bars look good. I have bought their ice cream once. Keep up the good work with eating and exercising, but you look great!

  5. Good job getting back on track. Restarting (regardless of diet plan) always seem to be the hardest part.

  6. You have done really well with your weight loss. I started on a bit of a health kick to lose a bit of weight but birthdays and the kids being off school has derailed my plans but I will be getting back to it next week.
Your meals all look delicious and ever so healthy. Good luck x
