A New Spring Wreath

This month for our crafting challenge we were asked to make something for spring.  It was the perfect excuse to get in gear and make the new wreath for our front door that I had been thinking about.

I headed to Michael's craft store and picked out my supplies.  I already had an old grapevine wreath on hand so I just picked up a few bundles of flowers and a roll of wired ribbon.

First I cut all the flowers apart and discarded the large portion of the stems.

Then I set to work arranging the various flower stems here and there; tucking the stems into the wreath and moving them around until I had an arrangement I liked.  Normally, once that is done I slowly go around and hot glue everything into place but the flowers were staying in place so well I didn't bother this time.

I made up a big bow and then wove some long tails of ribbon around my wreath; again working and re-working until I had something I liked.

I attached my boy and a hanger using pipe cleaners (or chenille stems) and viola! A new wreath in just a couple of hours.

I don't think I have ever made a blue, periwinkle, and yellow wreath before but I really like that color combination and it looks great against our blue door.

I hope you'll stop by and see what all the other crafters have made for our Spring Challenge.

  1. It really does look beautiful and matches your door well. I've never had a door wreath, I did buy one last Christmas but couldn't put it on my door. I see you have something hanging down that holds your wreath. I may have a look to see if I can find something like that, although I'm not sure it would work with my door.

    1. I find the ribbon and bow hide those areas where everything comes together but I don't want to glue anything. LOL.

    1. Aw, thank you! I try to divide my pile of flowers into two equal-ish piles and then every time I place something on one side I place a coordinating flower or leaf on the other side.

    1. And I thought we had quite a drive to reach "civilization." Our closest store used to be 45 minutes away and then they built one just 25 minutes away and I swear I was driving there every week just because I could so easily! LOL. Enjoy your trip.
