A New Spring Wreath
This month for our crafting challenge we were asked to make something for spring. It was the perfect excuse to get in gear and make the new wreath for our front door that I had been thinking about.
I headed to Michael's craft store and picked out my supplies. I already had an old grapevine wreath on hand so I just picked up a few bundles of flowers and a roll of wired ribbon.
First I cut all the flowers apart and discarded the large portion of the stems.
I made up a big bow and then wove some long tails of ribbon around my wreath; again working and re-working until I had something I liked.
I attached my boy and a hanger using pipe cleaners (or chenille stems) and viola! A new wreath in just a couple of hours.
I hope you'll stop by and see what all the other crafters have made for our Spring Challenge.
It really does look beautiful and matches your door well. I've never had a door wreath, I did buy one last Christmas but couldn't put it on my door. I see you have something hanging down that holds your wreath. I may have a look to see if I can find something like that, although I'm not sure it would work with my door.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you! I have an over the door wreath holder but I have also seen people use the command hooks to hold up a front door wreath.
DeleteIt’s absolutely gorgeous and looks so good against the blue! Great job sweet friend!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYou're very artistic. I love the colors of your beautiful new wreath!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you! I have always dabbled with arts and crafts.
DeleteWhen I think of wreaths on doors I think of Christmas one's. A spring one is such a fab idea. Yours looks really pretty. I love the colours that you have used. x
ReplyDeleteI tend to have some sort of wreath on the door year round.
DeleteYour wreath turned out very pretty and it blends in quite well with your door! It's a great way to welcome everyone to your home and also helps with curb appeal, too! I love looking at door decor on homes. I think a wreath sets the tone of a welcoming vibe!
ReplyDeleteThank you!

ReplyDeleteThanks! I thought so too.
DeleteI love making wreaths for our doors! I never use ribbon though - I should try that! It looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI find the ribbon and bow hide those areas where everything comes together but I don't want to glue anything. LOL.
DeleteYour wreath looks amazing. I love that you created one. I just bought one and now I want one like this.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI absolutely LOVE this wreath. The colors are so perfectly spring and so lovely against your pretty blue door. I like your arrangement of the flowers and that soft, draped ribbon and bow. Just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteI love the color of your front door! Giving our front door a fresh color is on my Spring To Do list! Do you mind sharing the name of the color you used on yours? The flowers in your wreath are the perfect compliment! pinning -Marci @ Stone Cottage Adventures
ReplyDeleteThank you! I keep trying to repaint the door but end up picking the same shade; I'll see if I still have the swatch or paint to get the name for you.
DeleteIt's beautiful! I find wreaths so difficult to make because I can't get the visual balance right but you nailed it!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you! I try to divide my pile of flowers into two equal-ish piles and then every time I place something on one side I place a coordinating flower or leaf on the other side.
DeleteYour wreath is beautiful! Looks so pretty against your blue door!

DeleteThat wreath must have everyone in the neighborhood slowing down to admire it. Against the blue door it's heavenly.
ReplyDeleteActually you can't see our door from the road and we live on a private road so not too much admiring going on at our house but thank you so much for the compliment.
DeleteSuch a lovely spring wreath! I agree that the blue and yellow flowers look great with your door.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I can't believe I hadn't thought of that color combo before.
DeleteBeautiful wreath! Love the color of your front door. We're going to be replacing our front door soon and I've been on pinterest looking. This definitely needs to go on pinterest for both the wreath and the door!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
DeleteI love your new wreath. The colours are great and it pops against your door! Rachel and I are going to attempt to make a spring wreath for her door today using flowers made from egg cartons. We could use your crafty skills!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you! That sounds like a fun craft project you're tackling.

DeleteI have a chance to go to Michael's this coming week (hour and a half drive for us), and you have inspired me to try making a wreath. I can't find a ready made one that I like!
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought we had quite a drive to reach "civilization." Our closest store used to be 45 minutes away and then they built one just 25 minutes away and I swear I was driving there every week just because I could so easily! LOL. Enjoy your trip.
