Currently Loving, Reading, Remembering, Sharing, and Wishing

Today I am linking up with Anne in Residence for her Currently series.  I have spent years reading various bloggers take on Anne's monthly prompts but I have never joined in... until today!

loving-- Early morning sunrises on the lake, the snow covered ground, being out in nature whenever it's not feeling positively Arctic-like out there.

reading-- I have been reading so many great books! I am currently reading a few.  I am just finishing up the Vanishing Half and have started reading The Return, The Tattooist of Auschwitz and Pieces of Me.

remembering--
Lately I have been thinking a lot about all the field trips we would normally be going on right now.  Winter was always great for museum trips as so many schools are afraid to book field trips this time of year with our unpredictable weather so we often had the places to ourselves or we'd meet up with friend for a fun day of learning altogether.  (We visited all three of these museums-- Boston Science, Worcester history, & Yale Peabody-- in February 2019!)

sharing-- All sorts of yummy treats, foods, and recipes with my family.

wishlisting-- I have been making a list of all the places I'd like to visit and planning all sorts of vacation possibilities... I'm not sure when I'll actually get to plan any of them in real life but here are a few of the places I'm dreaming of visiting.

  • Bora Bora-- My husband heard of Bora Bora on the radio one day and couldn't wait to tell me all about these huts over the water.  I assured him I already knew all about them and he suggested we try and make a trip there one day just the two of us.

  • Walt Disney World (I can't help but think of those tickets we didn't get to use last year)

  • Hawaii-- I've always wanted to go and we have those airline vouchers just sitting in our account...

  • Bermuda-- My husband's company shipped a plant over there a few years ago and I've always joked that I would volunteer to go on that service trip!

  3. Love the post and the prompts. First off, your photography skills are just WOW! I am with you on dreaming about vacationing once again. I love the process of researching, planning and then going on a trip. The whole thing brings me so much joy. So I just finished the Vanishing Half and although it was fine, it really fell short for me. What did you think?

    1. Aw, thank you; though the travel ones are stock photos all the rest are mine. I love the planning and researching component of vacationing too.

I thought the Vanishing Half was OK but it definitely was not a favorite. I thought the ending just sort of ended and wasn't in love the writing style of it either.

    1. I was blown away by the fact that is is written about a real life interview the author had with Tattooist when he was in his 80's. A very powerful story.

  8. What gorgeous winter photos! That iced bread too... :) And I've got on my life list to stay in one of those over-water bungalows, but right now really any travel sounds good after a year with none, and likely none to come.

    Thanks for joining in!

    1. Thank you so much for hosting! That iced bread was pretty darn good; so good I made my husband take the second loaf to work so we wouldn't eat it all.

  18. I'm loving your beautiful photos of the lake and the scenes in nature. I miss our homeschool days and fun field trips. It seems like we did a lot of out of house homeschooling, a great way to learn history and science through some amazing museums and historic sites.

    1. Thank you! I think there were several years where we spent more time out of the house than inside it for sure. As they've gotten older and we've revisited so many of the same museums, zoos, parks, etc. over and over again we find that we had a few we actually knew by heart!

  22. It has officially been a year since I travelled last. I was traveling so much that the airport felt like my second office, but since the start of a the pandemic all travel has been halted. It’s been nice to stay, literally, grounded but it’s also been a tough adjustment. Now, a year later at really miss it.

You have some amazing trips on the horizon! I can’t wait to see the photos!
