The Feels and What's In My... Combined

For today's post I'm linking up two of my favorite blogging monthly link ups; The Feels and What's In My...  Normally, I'd write these as two separate posts but I have so many great blog posts going live this week I figured it was just easiest for me to combine them!

The feels is hosted each month by X-tremely V  and though the questions are the same each month the answers are always different since they're based only on our current month.

Favorite Meal-- My husband convinced me to buy a whole beef rib eye at BJ's and we brought it home, cut it up following a video we found on-line and honestly-- It was the BEST steak dinner we have ever had.  We paired the steak with sauteed mushroom, steamed broccoli and baked potatoes and even my boys all said they liked it better than anything we've ever even gotten at a restaurant.  That is really saying something since my boys are always partial to filet.

Favorite Movie/ TV Show/ Book--  I just put together a list of all the shows and movies I've been watching lately but my favorites....

Movie: Bad Boys for Life

TV Show: Perfect Harmony

Book: I read another 9 pretty good novels this month but my favorite would have to be In an Instant

Favorite Activity: I'd have to say baking since we have been baking up a storm over here!  We made chocolate chip muffins, a delicious spring popcorn mix, a few bread recipes, blueberry boy bait, a brownie/ no bake cheesecake dessert, mango scones with lime glaze, chocolate chip cookies, and Ian's birthday cake (chocolate with peanut butter frosting and Reese's)... and so much more!

Favorite Moment: Celebrating my oldest turning 16!!

Goal for May: I'm hoping it warm up enough for me to really go through and prep the gardens and pull out all the patio and deck furniture.

Anything else that made April feel good: We saw a few signs of spring (between snowstorms and cold spells)... that always makes me so happy.

The What's in My... Link up is hosted each month by Mom Life with Adrienne and Adventures with Ella Marie and we get to take a little sneak peek into each other's lives.

This month is all about our car.  There isn't much exciting about my car since I keep it pretty clean but here's what the inside of my car looks like:

I drive a Chevy Traverse.  This is the second or perhaps even third model of this car we've owned and I like the set up. Though I have to say no car has a third row of seating to accommodate either of my tow oldest boys with their long legs.. but we make it work for those rare times we have all 5 of us in the car.

That cell phone holder was the handiest Christmas present (from my mom).  I wish I had thought to buy one sooner!

Tucked into the dashboard we use this compartment to hold sunglasses (and sunglass cases)

In the console between the seats I keep a box of tissues handy.

The arm rest has a little compartment built into it too and I keep some breath mints, pencils, and charger cords. Typically I have a pad of post it notes in there to go with the pencils but I just used up my last one.

The driver and passenger doors have a compartment in them and I store umbrellas in there-- we usually have 3 or 4 of them in the car.

In my glove compartment I keep a glass cleaning wipe, the books that came with the car (and proof of insurance/ registration/ etc., a few napkins, and more and more charging cords.

The back seats are kept amazingly clean for having three boys.  No toys or anything stuffed in the seating/bins.

In the trunk I keep a plastic tote and lots of bug spray/sunscreen.

I also have my reusable bags (though we aren't allowed to use them anymore) and my masks for when I go grocery shopping-- since they are required by law now.

In the trunk space there is a tiny compartment built in where we keep spare jugs of oil, a first aid kit, some paper towels, an ice/ windshield scraper, and two zippered picnic blankets.

These are so handy for afternoons at the park or beach.

What do you keep in your car?

  1. I do love a clean car. My car is very similar (also a similar SUV) but since my youngest began horseriding, there is dirt EVERYWHERE and since it was weekly, it was hard to keep up. I need to clean it out now while we aren't really going anywhere but the weather hasn't been nice enough yet. Another project, I guess. :)

  8. Happy 16th birthday to your oldest!
Your car is so nicely organized. Great idea to keep the umbrellas in it. I never have one when I need one. Loving the birds you spotted. Hope your weather improves. We spent a lot of time outside yesterday, it finally quit raining so we planted the two trees we purchased the weekend before. And I decided to stop at the garden center to purchase some vegetable plants for the garden. Not many choices this year...wish I had grown them from seed!

    1. We spent all day outside on Saturday since it finally stopped raining (and then it's rained for the last two days again). We tackled a bit of the yard work and while my back is now killing me it's starting to look so nice.

  9. This is what I wish my car looked like! About five years ago when I started a new job my manager, jokingly asked if I was living out of my car. Since then I've been able to keep mine pretty spotless. My husband on the other hand not so much. I swear that thing that it's own ecosystem. Also, your baked goods look sooooooooo good! You'll have to put a post together with links to all of your recipes!

    1. I have always been pretty compulsive about my car; my husband cleans his out almost weekly but it still looks like a wreck since he has to keep so much in there. I used to have a lot more stuff when the boys were younger but we've been pairing down over the years.

  12. A good steak dinner sounds good to me too. I just set aside a Kindle book that just wasn't very good, so I may look into In an Instant. I have a similar cell phone holder and I LOVE it, especially for long trips when I need GPS. Lots of good stuff in this post!
