10 Q & A's About Spring

For this month's 10 on the 10th with Once Upon a Time Happily Ever After we had 10 questions about spring to answer.  I always love a Q&A link up; it's so fun to see everyone's answers!

1. How did you celebrate spring break/ Easter as a child? We always got dressed up, went to church, had an Easter egg/ Easter basket hunt and then went out for brunch or lunch.

This is actually from my first communion that takes place in June but I couldn't find any Easter pictures

2.  Do you spring clean? I tend to clean in spurts year round but spring does find me cleaning all the windows and curtains.

3.  What's spring weather like where you live? Spring weather is pretty unpredictable; we can get late snowstorms or early beach days.  Usually it's pretty muddy with snowmelt and we tend to get quite a bit of rain to help that snow melt even faster.  This year though we haven't had much snow to speak of but we still have quite a bit of mud with all the rain we've been having instead. When we start seeing more birds and flowers/ buds popping out of the ground we know spring is near.

4.  How green is your thumb? My thumb is brown.. I am awful at keeping even simple houseplants alive.  We do try to plant annuals and even vegetables or fruits most year but have yet to have the flowers last through summer or get any produce from our gardening attempts.

5.  AC on or windows open? Both/either.  I like to open the windows occasionally in spring but we do have AC and more often than not we have that going instead.

6.  How do you decorate for spring/ Easter/ Passover? The only notable changes in my décor for spring are adding more flowers and pastel colors around the house.

7.  How do you get bathing suit/ shorts/ warm weather ready? This year I'm buying almost all new clothes as the ones I bought for last summer are too big (again!); it's been a wonderful problem to have.  I also take time to go through all the boys' drawers with them to see what they need for the new season and we begin to make a shopping list.

8. Is your closet arranged with just the current season's clothes? I typically only keep one season of clothes in my closet (on hangers/ shelves) and store the other seasonal clothes on the very top shelf all around my closet in bins.  Only problem is that most seasons here in New England spill over into others so things like jeans, yoga pants, and sweatshirts have year round spots.  I mostly just swap out my heavy sweaters with t-shirts and lightweight clothing and add in shorts in place of some of my pants. But at that in-between time (like now) I have a little bit of everything in there.

I also have waay more clothes than normal as I've been keeping a few items from each clothing size as I'm shedding pounds

9.  What is your go to spring uniform? I tend to wear jeans with a t-shirt and either a cardigan or a light jacket.  I will, however, break out my sandals as soon as we have a sunny day over 60/65... and it has to get pretty cold before I'll stop wearing them!

10. What outdoor activities do you enjoy in spring? Our favorite activities include an early trip to the beach, hiking, biking, and walking.  We particularly enjoy not having to wear our heavy jackets!

    1. It has been such a wonderful problem to have; though I am sad some of my favorite clothes no longer fit.

  3. I am so touched by the number of gals who joined me for this!! Thank you so much. I enjoyed reading your answers. Love your pedicure. And I can relate to having clothes that are too big and I pulled mine out of the closet when I cleaned it last week but I am scared to get rid of them. I don't want to wear them again, though, and I need to be prepared to do what I can to make sure that doesn't happen. Ugh.

Lovely photos of the boys on the trail, the bird on the birdhouse and the first signs of spring peeking through the old brown leaves. Did you take them with your DSL?

    1. I feel the same way! I am so scared I will need them again but I don't want to throw them away and have to buy all bigger sizes too.

All the photos were taken with my old camera; a Nikon Coolpix.

    1. That sounds wonderful!! Though I often wonder if I'd miss the changing of seasons... having lived here my whole life I'm so used to having 4 distinct seasons I'm not sure if I'd miss them or not.

    1. Definitely brown. The house we lived in growing up didn't have much at all in the way of closets so I made sure we all had nice closets (with the master being the best!)

  7. We have quite a bit in common! My only successful houseplants are fake, and while I'd like to clean the whole house in one big swoop, I tend toward a few mini-swoops throughout the year.

  8. It was fun learning more about you! I miss the New England states. I used to live in Norwell, MA and East Lyme, Ct. and loved both. Visiting from Wonderful Wednesday.
