What's Up Wednesday-- February 2020

Oh February, it was not the kindest month but thankfully it was a short month! We have had some pretty cold days this month but thankfully the snow still seems to be holding off for the most part.  I don't mind a few flurries here and there especially when they're followed by rain and the snow tends to go away quickly. The flu only took down two of our family members and while we had to push back our Disney/ Florida trip we were thankful that everyone recovered well &/or stayed healthy.

What We're Eating This Week:
I still haven't put our whole weekly menu together yet but I know it will include:

Spinach and cheese ravioli with sauce and salad

Turkey and quinoa soup

What I'm Reminiscing About: We have had hardly any snow this year; just a little dusting here and there (for which I am so grateful)!  And yet when these photos showed up on my Facebook timeline I couldn't help but remember the fun we had in the February 2013 blizzard (after we did a substantial amount of plowing and shoveling otherwise no one could walk).

30" fell overnight!

What I'm Loving:  I bought myself some flowers to brighten up the kitchen and these fresh flowers have lasted two weeks now!

What We've Been Up To:  My husband and I went out on a few date nights this month.  The boys and I took in a few hikes.  Alec graduated to a red belt in karate!  We enjoyed a delicious Valentine's dinner at home and finished watching Toy Story 4 together.  We took two afternoon off from school to go bowling with friends and to go roller skating.  And spent many quiet days and evenings at home.

What I'm Dreading: Two more months of feeling crappy waiting on the Doctors and the new meds to take effect.

What I'm Working On: I'm still organizing the house area by area when inspiration hits.  I've also been working on lots of cards; I got a cute new kit in from Stampin' Up! And I'm getting a jump start on Mother's Day cards and stamping up some all purpose cards just to have on hand.

What I'm Excited About:
We've been setting aside quite a few workbooks and subjects as we complete them.  I love watching our work start to dwindle down this time of year!

What I'm Watching/Reading:

Other than my usual shows like This is Us and A Million Little Things I've been on the hunt for "new" shows to watch.

I started watching Melissa and Joey (Hulu) from the beginning, Baby Daddy (Hulu), The New Girl (Netflix), Carol's Second Act (CBS), and we've introduced the boys to Boy Meets World (Disney +).

I read 9 great books this month!  (I'll have a full re-cap here on the blog on Sunday but they were all so so good!)

What I'm listening to: My boys and I started listening to The Trials of Apollo: The Burning Maze.

What I'm Wearing: Still lots of layers, sweaters, and pants.

What I'm Doing This Weekend:
Hopefully we'll start swapping out Ian's rug for some Pergo-type flooring.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month:
Changing the clocks and enjoying those extra hours of sunshine in the evening!

What Else is New: Nothing much; it's been a pretty quiet month.

    1. We sure have! I like to keep busy... in fact I sort of feel like we didn't have that busy of a month compared to normal.

  4. Oh, changing the clocks is coming up! That's always exciting except for the first day when you lose an hour!

    1. I typically have a bit of a problem for a day or two until I adjust not only my sleep patterns but just being able to gague what time it is based on how it looks outside. I'm always thrown off by that for a bit.

  5. You read some good books this month. And my son is all about the Rick Riordan books! Those cards are so pretty. I love them!

    1. I really loved almost every single book I read this month and my boys and I are HUGE Riordan fans. I honestly think (once we finish this series) we'll have listened/read all of his books at least twice!

    1. We didn't get much snow at all this year. I think we had one storm in early December where we actually plowed and that was it. My son's a bit disappointed because he was really looking forward to plowing.

    1. It was nuts! We went to bed with hardly anything on the ground and woke up to snowapalooza! I'm not at all sad we haven't had that happen this winter.

  9. Holy moly, 30 inches!! I can't imagine having that much snow at once! Our whole city gets shut down when we get 3 inches. Lol.

    1. Ha; we don't even bother plowing or shoveling for only 3 inches... well, the town/state will plow the roads but most homeowners don't bother. :) It's all about what you're used to I guess.

  11. Oh wow, I've not seen snow like this since I was a child. We do not get snow much nowadays but we have some predicted for tomorrow so I am hoping to take some photos whilst it lasts :) Love seeing all your style photos and that macaroni cheese looks so tasty. Thanks for sharing at The Wednesday Blog Hop. Have a lovely week

    1. It's pretty rare for us too these past couple of winters. We used to get a few snowstorms a month when I was a kid and even just before we had kids but my boys only have vague memories of deep and lasting snowstorms.

  12. We have had hardly any snow here and I'm bummed we have not gotten to go sledding or play in it! Looks like you had a fun month though!

    1. The only reason we were hoping for some snow this year was so we could try out our new showshoes we got for Christmas. It's not looking like we're going to get use them at all this winter.

  13. I really hope your meds start kicking in you and you start to feel better. I read Verity a few months ago and loved it. We haven't had much snow in the valley this year and I am ok with it. That one year you had a ton!!!

    1. Thank you. They're helping a bit but have so many of their own side effects that I am not enjoying taking them. Hopefully I'll adjust to them soon and the side effects will lesson. We have years where it seems like every snowstorms dumps a few feet of snow and then we have years like this where I don't even think all the storms added together would equal one foot. I prefer years like this!

  15. Such cute and cozy winter looks. I like "Carol's Second Act" too. I wish I could watch "A Million Little Things". but Hulu only has the second season on (why, I have no idea. Lots of people complained about this as they were late catching on to the show and would love to start from the beginning).

    1. I hate when Hulu does that; I'm like that with Modern Family... they only have season 8 and I'm not about to start watching it 8 seasons in.
