My Valentine's Day Cards

Thankfully my husband and boys don't really read my blog so I know I can share what I've been up to this month without ruining any surprises!  I had a lot of fun making my Valentine cards.

This first card was part of a Valentine exchange I participated in with some fellow bloggers.  I cut a traditional card out of pink; trimmed an inch off the front side and used that as my folded flap.  Using printed paper, a few simple stamps, and a fun heart cutout I made this cute card.

I don't always use traditional Valentine colors for my boys' cards.  Evan's favorite color is blue so I made him a blue card this year.  Using the same center fold as on my Christmas cards and some coordinating printed paper I whipped up this very simple card.

Ian always liked the color red so I knew I'd be safe with shades of red and white.  Layering simple geometric papers with plain white and red paper I like to think I created a simple card that any teen would enjoy.  I finished off the card with a glittered heart sticker and a simple sentiment adhered with some silver brads.

I thought my husband's card would be simple to make... but it wasn't.  I cut a card from black cardstock.  I then trimmed some white and red to fit on the front and cut a scalloped edge on them.  I ran the red sheet through my Big Shot with a texture die and then lined up the top 1/2 of the white paper with another texture die.  I figured out how to get my Cricut to cut some hearts out of the  paper where I wanted them to land!  I finished off the card with a coordinating ribbon.

Alec loves animals and I had planned to make him a cute kitty card using one of my Stampin Up! punches but it broke (luckily my husband has since fixed it!).  So at the last minute I ordered a new stamp set with pandas and I think he's just going to LOVE this card!  I layered some printed paper, rick rack, and circles to put the spotlight on the cute little pandas.  Then I finished off the card with heart stickers and a little simple sentiment.
