My January Goals
Happy New Year! I hope you all have a healthy and prosperous year filled with fun, family, & friends.
Rather than trying to set big yearly goals or make resolutions that I seem to forget about mid-way through the year, I thought I'd try sharing smaller monthly goals on the blog this year and see if I'm better at sticking to them this way. I think having less time to get things done will work better for me since I love to beat a good deadline!
Here are a few things I'd like to try and do this month:
Blogging:
1. Set up a Facebook/ Instagram/ or other social media account-- Ever since swapping out to my new blog I have been debating about setting up some sort of social media presence. I really only have a Pinterest account at this point and feel like I need something else.
2. Set up my blog newsletter-- I have been having people sign up for my newsletter left and right but don't have one set up! I need to get on that but really wanted to play around with Mailchimp and see if I can figure out how to post just snippets each day or one email on Friday that gives snippets of each of the week's blog posts.
3. Go through each day in January and make sure all links in all January blog posts ever posted are working-- I started this at the end of Dec. Now that my new blog is up and running all my old links within the posts are no longer working I figure if I can work on each day's old posts each day by the end of the year I should be all caught up... hopefully!
For fun:
1. Make cards for all the January birthdays- I had so much fun getting back into crafting last year and I don't want to stop making strides in including more of that in my life.
2. Go to lunch with my mom-- My mom's birthday is in January and while we have a great tradition of shopping and lunching for my birthday I'd like to start doing the same with my mom on/near her birthday.
3. Make up at least 5 scrapbooking pages-- I've already gotten a head start on this one; I have so many photos from our family trip last fall that I want to start working on before our next trip (to Disney! & Universal Studios).

Here are a few things I'd like to try and do this month:
Health/ Wellness Goals:
1. Reach goal weight on Weight Watchers! (or at least get closer to it!) I was so darn close with only 6 lbs. left to go and then started feeling awful: in pain, nauseous, and just down in the dumps by mid- November which led to a horrible backslide for pretty much the whole month of December. With my D&C behind me I am hopeful I will be feeling better soon so I can start making much healthier eating choices once again.
2. Start exercising 3 times a week. I am so great about hiking for an hour a day just about daily when we have nice weather but I struggle in the winter to motivate myself to workout. We have a treadmill, I have lots of exercise DVD's and while I am pretty good about getting outside for a walk/hike when those rare warm winter days pop up I need to get better about working out each week no matter what the weather is doing. Hopefully I'll be cleared to go back to all regular activities soon!
3. Drink 3 of my Yeti tumblers of water each day (that's about 90 ounces). I consistently drink two but have gotten away from the three I was drinking each day.
1. Set up a Facebook/ Instagram/ or other social media account-- Ever since swapping out to my new blog I have been debating about setting up some sort of social media presence. I really only have a Pinterest account at this point and feel like I need something else.

First, Thanks so much for stopping by!!Happy New Year to you and your family!!
ReplyDeleteLove this post because you and I have similar goals....
Hugs,
Debbie
Thank you!
DeleteThese are great goals for the month! I think I should go back to making monthly goals too. I broke my water bottle so my drinking has been way off! I ordered a new one though. I love the idea of fixing your blog posts daily for that day.
ReplyDeleteI've been doing this for the past year or two and updating photos/ content but now that I switched the blog over I really need to focus on all the links and making sure they're all working again. I figure it's the easiest way to tackle what is definitely going to be a huge job.
DeleteThanks for sharing this post at #UMLP8 where I read it. I especially enjoyed reading how instead of yearly goals you're thinking of planning monthy goals. I keep it real simple and plan goals a day in advance. LOL. Hope you'll read my post, Create Positive Energy and Health with Affirmations. Maybe it will help you in the new year. ReplyDeleteUp until last yer that was totally me; one day at a time. It worked great for smaller goals and I still use a daily to do list to get things done but I needed a few things that helped me see the big picture on projects that couldn't be completed in a day. Thanks so much for stopping by; I'll definitely head over and read yours.
DeleteLove the idea of lunching for your mom's birthday! I think that is definitely a goal that you can DO and won't regret!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! Now I just have to call her and make a date.
DeleteAwesome goals! Worthy and fun so well-balanced. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteSo many great goals!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteHey doll, we have some similar plans for the new year, although my winter goals can be summed up in one word - FINISH. I have so many loose ends to finish or give up on, once and for all. One loose end is my craft room, with assorted projects in a half-finished status. Too much scrapbook paper that will never get used. Time to sort through everything and make some tough decisions.
ReplyDeleteAnd I have to get back to eating well and exercising. Have done well on Weight Watchers but enjoyed the holidays. Now it is time to get serious again. A group of us do a monthly wellness post together. Would love to have you join us this year. We are posting on the 3rd Sunday of the month, calling our posts Wellness Weekend. If you are interested, please email me and I can add you to the email group for the link-up codes, and info. My email is mommyhon333@hotmail.com . Happy new year! Leslie
I sorted through a bunch of my scrapbooking things this week and purged a few more items I wasn't using and knew I wouldn't. I've already marked my calendar to link up with your Wellness Weekend but since I've decided not to blog on this weekends this year I'll pass on helping to host. (If I change my mind I'll let you know!). I'm really trying hard to balance life and the blog after years of posting every single day (and sometimes multiple posts a day) I'm going to try cutting back just a bit.
DeleteA newsletter is somewhere on my back burner project list as well...
ReplyDeleteGotta get to it.
I really dread it; I found it so hard to navigate Mailchimp's site last time I set one up for my old blog and I just know I'm going to get so frustrated again since they've changed everything.
DeleteI changed water cups and am doing much better with drinking this week. Here is to hoping to keep on drinking!

Thank you! It's only day 2 but so far so good.
DeleteSuch great goals for the month! I love the idea of setting monthly goals instead of a New Year's Resolution. I set goals similarly, it can be so difficult to stay focused when the goal is too big or far off into the future. Hope you have a wonderful January and meet all those spectacular goals!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteI have missed a lot of your blog posts, maybe because of the blog name change!? Great goals for January, and I hope you are on the road to recovery from your surgery.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think I have lost a few readers with my blog switch... it had to be done. So glad to have you back. Hopefully I'll get that subscription link working so that my actual posts are shared soon. I have lots of people signing up and subscribing but so far I haven't set anything up to go with it yet.
DeleteSounds like you have a plan in order. Thanks so much for linking up at the #UnlimitedMonthlyLinkParty 8. Pinned.
ReplyDeleteHave you seen my short story link party? It is a creative writing exercise for fun and without a lot of editing. Just start typing and see what you come up with! Remember, no story is too short! See the party on my site for the current prompt, closes on the 9th.
I have noticed your short story link party and I've read a few... just not sure I'm ready to jump in with both feet just yet.
DeleteI understand, but remember...no story is too short and it's all for fun and creativity!!
DeleteI have very similar goals for January. And I have had a newsletter on my mind for over a year now. I don't know how to get it started. I'll have to take some tips from you as your roll yours out.
ReplyDeleteHow are you feeling now? Is everything behind you or are you still recovering?
I have my 2 week post- op appointment today. I'm feeling pretty good!
DeleteI love the idea of shorter term goals and resolutions. I have some similar ones. I need to work on my broken links, too, and I like the idea of taking it one month at a time.
ReplyDeleteI find it's the only way I can really focus on them and give them the attention they deserve.
DeleteJoanne, you inspire me!
ReplyDeleteSetting monthly, attainable goals is a smart move.
Aw, thank you!!
DeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat goals for January! I really like your approach to updating the links in old posts, and I think that would be a good way for me to clean up some of the old stuff on my blog as well. I haven't migrated, but I know I have missing photos and broken links in old posts that I've been meaning to look after. And what a lovely tradition and goal to have lunch with your mom!! I wish my mom lived close enough for us to get together regularly. I am looking forward to lunch with her when I visit family later this month. Thanks for sharing at #twentysixlists and helping me get started!
ReplyDeleteWe just had lunch yesterday and it was wonderful; two of the boys decided to join us and we had a lot of fun.
