My Christmas Bucket List

I know I haven't wrapped up my fall bucket list (which I will be doing this weekend!) and while fall technically lasts through December 22nd I really wanted to make up a list of fun things for us to for the month of December.

I don't know about you but I feel like the month just flies by so fast and I know if I'm not intentional about making plans the season flies right by without us remembering to do those fun things we want to really enjoy the season.  So I decided to scrap today's original post idea and post our bucket list instead.

1.  Tour another one of the Newport mansions and see all the Christmas decorations (last year we toured the Elms).

2.  Decorate the house

3.  Bake Christmas cookies

4.  Make a few fun crafts

5.  See some holiday lights

6.  Watch Christmas movies as a family

7.  Enjoy a cup of hot cocoa

8.  Get a fire going in the fireplace

9.  Put together a family puzzle

10.  See a holiday play or production

11.  Attend a holiday party or two

12.  Make a gingerbread house together (last year we made our log cabin)

What are some of the things on your Christmas bucket list?

  1. I love that your list is not exhausting! I want to bake cookies with my grandkids, enjoy a few holiday movies with my kids and husband, and treat them to some of their favorite Christmas goodies. Trying to keep things simple....

    1. I tried to be very intentional about keeping the list short nd easy so I won't wear myself (and us) out.

  2. What a wonderful bucket list. We toured The Breakers last Thanksgiving with my sister and her husband, who live in RI. It was amazing! And that gingerbread log cabin is so cute. I hope to do something like that with my grandkids this year.

  4. We all love decorating the gingerbread houses but no one actually eats them in this house. :) I've been trying to find other alternatives but we tend to go back to gingerbread because they're nice and easy.

  6. Great ideas you have here. A white Christmas experience is on my bucket list. It's summer all year round over here on our side of the pond.

    Happy Tuesday!

    1. We haven't had a white Christmas in years but we'll definitely have snow by mid-January.

  7. Great list!! I am especially interested in your darling gingerbread log cabin because I will be making my first gingerbread house this year. Are the logs really cinnamon sticks? So clever!!

I read about the Newport Mansions, then looked at the photograph of that dining room, then read that you want to decorate the house...I misunderstood, thought the picture of the dining room from the mansion was your house. I was blown away. Couldn't imagine how you could decorate it any better than it already was and couldn't imagine actually eating food in that room. Glad to finally realize that wasn't your dining room. But hey, your den or family room is so warm and festive!!

Life doesn't get much better, in my book, than cocoa, a fire in the fireplace and a puzzle to work with family. Great list.

    1. The logs are pretzel rods; if you click on the words Our Log Cabin in the parenthesis it will take you to the page that tells you how we did it.

  8. I need to add get a fire going in the fireplace too! I love that idea and we so rarely use ours but every time we do it's such a delightful evening. I love all of these ideas, it all just promotes good family time.

  11. This is a great list! Making a gingerbread house isn't on my list, but I know we're getting them for a competition at work, so I'm looking forward to that! Christmas movie night (with hot cocoa) is a must for me every year. Which are your favorites or must-sees?

  13. Here it is! I just read your Fall bucket list wrap up. This is a great, and manageable, list. I really want to see Christmas lights this year, and put up our own outside. This is our second Christmas in the house, and last year we were not ready to put up lights.

    1. We don't put up any of our lights since we live at the end of a dead end road (and my husband refuses to! Ha!). But I do love driving around and seeing other people's displays.
