Sentence a Day in July

I just can't believe July is over and we're already almost a week into August!  We have one last month of summer fun and we're trying to make the most of our days.  Here's a look back at July one sentence at a time.



1.  Evan had a friend coming over for the day and I was excited to talk with his mom since we don't get to see them very often.

2.  After karate and running errands the boys and I spent the afternoon playing cards.

3.  We spent the afternoon hanging out with my mother- in-law and family at the cottage.



4.  We pressure washed the house and filled in our patio blocks with patio sand working hard all day in the hot sun.




5.  We replaced the hanging light over our front door and I declared all outside projects "done" for awhile.

6.  I took the younger two boys to a birthday party for their friend and then we headed to the family's annual 4th of July party.




7.   I had a whole 2 hours to myself while two of the boys went to the movies with my husband and one went swimming at the cottage with his grandmother so I enjoyed quiet time on patio reading a book.



8.  My mom and I took off for our annual birthday shopping trip-- I was able to size down TWO sizes on ALL the clothes!



9.  Evan and I stopped at the library to get some new books and then he proceeded to spend much of the day reading.


10.  We ate lunch outside and all the boys went swimming while I began my latest book-- Lost Roses.



11.  We met up with some friends at Hopeville and spent a wonderful afternoon hanging out and keeping cool.



12.  We spent a relaxing day at home; I spent most of my day outside reading a book and soaking up the sunshine.

13.  We had TWO parties!




14.  We went kayaking and swimming across the lake looking for some fresh blueberries.

15.  Alec made homemade English muffins and only asked me to show him how to work the griddle!




16.  We had friends over for a fun afternoon of swimming.



17.  Alec made some banana bread with strudel topping.



18.  I took Alec to get fitted for his retainer since he only has a couple more weeks with his braces; we celebrated with ice cream!



19.  Alec had a dentist appointment and the cat had to go back to the vet for a re-check; both had great check ups!

20.  My husband and I headed to Cape Cod for the day.



21.  The next morning we took a ferry from the cape to Nantucket and spent the day exploring the island.



22.  We bought a new kitchen faucet and Alec got a mini-lesson on how to install it.



23.  It poured most of the day (again) so after Alec's karate class we just hung out at home watching TV.



24.  We had plans to go hang out at a friend's house and play in their pool.



25.  We finished two more science experiments-- disappearing ink and sediment layer jars.



26. I soaked up the sunshine outside while reading my latest book: Ladies of the Lake.

27. I spent the day doing laundry, groceries, and getting things organized around the house. 

28. After a failed family outing we went swimming and picked blueberries instead.




29.  I enjoyed the day sitting outside, reading, and watching wildlife like this little hummingbird.




30.  After karate I supervised Alec making a white chocolate raspberry cheesecake.


31.  Ian headed to work so the younger boys and I took a trip to the mall to buy some much needed birthday gifts for the parties we have coming up next month.

  2. What a great post showcasing so many wonderful things!! Thanks so much for stopping by. Unfortunately, my nephew is now home with Hospice as his battle with colon cancer seems to be a battle that he can not win. Our hearts are broken..Please keep his family in your prayers as his daughters are 10. 14 and 17 years old.......

  3. It looked like you spent a lot of time outside enjoying the warm summer days! Lovely post about your family activities. We're still in winter down here but spring is on the way as I wrote in my post :)

    1. I am soaking up as many warm sunny days as I can because we're approaching fall (which I love) and winter (which I do not enjoy at all!).

    1. It really is flying by so fast; I can't believe it's almost fall! Though it is starting to feel more fall like with temps in the mid 70's.

  12. Girl, you guys really know how to do summer right. So much of what you mentioned screams summer to me, summer from my childhood. Picking blackberries for me, blueberries only once. Swimming. Reading. It is so hot here, that the best time to be outside is at dusk. And that only allows for about an hour of time. Thank you for joining us for SaD!
