Friday Favorites-- The Week We Had Two Parties

We had another great week and super hot/ sunny temps for most of it.  I don't mind the sun and heat but once the mugginess settled in we were all pretty miserable and spent the whole day inside.

Saturday we had two parties to go to; a birthday party for one of the younger boys' friends and a 40th birthday party for a family member.  We had such a great time at both! At the first party the boys spent the whole time on the water slide, in the pool, and gabbing with friends.  At the second my husband, Ian and I played many games of corn hole and Alec practiced his diving skills pretty much non-stop.

I wore my new favorite outfit... I am seriously debating about ordering this shirt in other colors. It is so comfy and keeps me nice and cool in the hot sun!

Shirt/ shorts/ shoes-- Like these

We kayaked/swam over to the other side of the lake to pick fresh blueberries on Sunday; sadly most of them were still green and we didn't get many blueberries at all.

Alec decided to make some homemade English muffins Monday; they came out so good that we ended up making English muffin pizzas for dinner.  It was a beautiful day and the boys spent time in the water, on the jet ski, and hanging out at the cottage with their grandmother.

After Alec's karate class on Tuesday we had friends over.  The boys spent hours in the water!

I finally used my cute flip flop tray to put together a fruit platter

Later that night I went to get my annual perm; which I won't like for another week or so until it relaxes but I get it extra curly on purpose because it does last me just about a full year that way!

It was so hot on Wednesday that we didn't even want to go outside.  So we didn't! The boys helped me clean the upstairs and Alec cooked up some banana bread and added a cinnamon strudel topping.  By dinnertime we had a huge storm moving through our area and it got so dark I had to turn on the lights.

Alec also showed me his drawing he's been working on and had finally finished.  He is really getting into drawing lately and he's so good at it too.

Alec had an orthodontic appointment on Thursday for them to make his retainer mold.  We had to travel to a different office in another town and I promised him we could stop at the UConn Diary Bar for fresh made ice cream afterwards.  They  use the milk from the cows raised right on the UConn campus and had some really yummy flavors to choose from.  I picked blueberry cheesecake and Alec had strawberries and cream.

  1. Your parties look like a lot of fun. I love playing corn hole. I could play for hours! The homemade English muffins look amazing! Too bad you didn't get many blueberries. Those muffins would be great with some homemade blueberry jam!

    1. Thank you! I like how it looks but I don't think I could wear it for a whole day again... anytime I moved at all those sleeves slipped right back up.

    1. Doesn't it look so fun? They had just filled the pool with fresh hose water so it was quite chilly but none of the kids seemed to mind in the least.

  5. Wow! That water slide. I didn't know a perm could hold so long and your shirt is super cute. Those English muffins are to die for! Your son is so talented.

    1. My understanding is most perms don't last that long but I did have naturally curly hair for the first couple years of my life and my hair seems to hold onto a perm really well. If I get frequent cuts and it grows out completely I might need another perm in 6 months but I often try to stretch out my appointments and just let my hair be longer. He did such a great job on those muffins. We all enjoyed them for days to come.
