Fire and Ice Festival Sculptures

One of the towns near us hosts a fire and ice festival each February.  We have yet to make it to the actual festival but this year we did go see the ice sculptures the next day. It's so neat to see so much detail carved out of ice!

A few of the carvings had lost some details and were showing signs from the power of the sun but thankfully it was cold enough that the sculptures lasted this year.

There were lots of different colored blocks around the patio that become colored lanterns at night
My boys and I were quite taken with how they looked up close..

This was quite the throne!  Complete with swords carved all around it.

This train had slots carved it in that were filled with colored sand art!

  1. I'm imagining what the sand art looks like now :) Wouldn't it be neat to have that much talent!

    1. They really were so neat and we could imagine how much better they must have looked "fresh."

  4. I think I like the sword in the ice stone and the faucet best. They're all incredible and tough to photography I imagine.

    1. They were really tough to photo. But the faucet was my favorite too.

    1. I thought it must be a lot of work too. I'd love to actually see them carve it one time but have yet to brave a cold night to do that.
