Books I Read in February

I picked a wide range of books and authors to read this month.  They all turned out to be pretty good books too.  My two favorites were Plain Truth and You Don't Own Me-- I just could not put them down until I knew what had happened.

1.  Lies and Other Acts of Love by Kristy Woodson Harvey-- Told in alternating viewpoints between Annabelle and her grandmother this story is about the lies we tell those we love (and ourselves) from the small white lies to big lies that can threaten to tear families apart.

2.  Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult-- When a dead baby is found in an Amish barn, Ellie (an English lawyer) moves in with the family onto the farm to try and defend their oldest daughter who is accused of murder in the first degree.  Out of her element in an Amish community Ellie is left trying to piece together what really happened.

3.  Hissy Fit by Mary Kay Andrews-- When she finds her groom to be having sex with one of the bridesmaids while AT the rehearsal dinner, Keeley goes a bit crazy and throws the fit to end all fits.  She calls of the wedding but unfortunately her groom to be is part of a very wealthy family that is determined to make her life miserable now.

4.  You Don't Own Me by Mary Higgins Clark & Alafair Burke-- I read one other book in this "Under Suspicion" series and have really enjoyed them both.  Lurie Moran is a producer of the show Unser Suspicion and is approached by Dr. and Mrs. Bell to solve the murder of their only son, Martin.  They are Convinced his wife killed him and want custody of their grandchildren.  Kendra, the widow, refuses to participate but as Laurie uncovers evidence that Martin was not a model husband, father, and doctor harboring secrets of his own she begins to put her own life unknowingly in danger.

5.  The Way Life Should Be by Christina Baker Kline-- Feeling stuck in her life in New York, Angela decides to pack it all in one day and move to Maine.  But life in Maine is not exactly like Angela thought it would be and she begins to realize that maybe there is no one set way that life "should" be.

  1. I've heard so much good about Jodi Picoult's writing. This sounds like a good place to start.

  4. On your list book #1 and #5 sound like something I would read. I think I would like a book that can show you what those "white lies" can do to family and #5 because we make changes in life or strive for changes in life to make life better and seeing how life can change by those choses would make a great read for me. Thanks for linking up with us at #OMHGWW!
