How to Decorate a Glass Block for Valentine's Day

I had bought one of those clear glass blocks before Christmas with the intent of making a lighted Christmas block.. but it never happened.  I have been wanting to make SOMETHING though and thought it might make a cute little addition to my mantle if I made something sweet and pink and Valentine's day themed.

I started and ditched at least three other ideas before settling on my final project.  I just love how it came out!

First I decided to use patterned paper and but it to fit into my glass block.  Once cut to size, I gently folded it and inserted it into the hole.

I used a few sheets of tissue paper to stuff the rest of the block and keep the paper pressed against the front.

I found some pretty sparkly ribbon and tied a bow around the whole thing.

I had a harder time with the letters. First I tried vinyl but the only shade of pink that might have worked was heat transfer and would not adhere to the glass.  I finally settled on cutting the letters out of cardstock and using a thin layer of Mod Podge to adhere it to the glass block.

I just love how it came out!

    1. Thank you! I wanted something that was pink enough to be "valentine's" but neutral enough to somewhat blend in with our décor.
