Decorating Stainless Steel Mugs with the Cricut

I made lots of gifts for family and friends using my Cricut.  One of my favorites were these mugs I made for my sister.  I thought they might be really hard to make but I had zero problems with them.... and I'm still fairly new at using my Cricut.

I purchased a set of stainless steel mugs from Amazon.  The exact set I bought are no longer available but these are very similar.

First I cleaned the outside of the mugs with alcohol and let them dry.

I used Cricut Design space to write up some cute sayings in different fonts.  I measured where I wanted the design to go and made sure to keep my sayings small enough to fit in the area I wanted them.

I cut my design out of sticky back vinyl.

Then I weeded my designs.

I applied transfer tape.

Using transfer tape carefully transferred the design over to the mug; making sure to really press down well.  I always start in the middle of my design and work my way outwards.  That way I can avoid getting wrinkles in any of my words.

Occasionally my sayings didn't lay flat.  I concentrated on applying the words one row at a time and cut away the transfer paper as I went so by the time I made it to the bottom word I only had that one word to deal with.  This helped make sure there were no bubbles or gaps.

I just love how they turned out!

I did enclose a little note with the gift letting them know that these are not dishwasher safe and must be washed by hand.
