My Favorite Ornaments

We have so many meaningful ornaments on our tree and I honestly just love them all.

My mom and step- father started a tradition when I was quite young where they bought each of us kids our own ornament each year.  They were all labeled with the date and often had some sort of personal meaning to each of us kids.  It's a tradition I've kept going with my own kids.

I love this Eiffel Tower/ Santa ornament that I received the year after my trip to France.

We also have so many photo ornaments!  Just look at this photo of my husband and I from my junior prom!

My step- father found this awesome place that made ornaments out of any photo and had one made of our wedding.

I have ornaments of all the boys as babies; which is so precious to me now that they're all so big! (though I could not locate Alec on the tree this year).

Each year when we go on vacation I pick out an ornament for our tree to remind us of the family fun we've had.  Like his Hershey bar from our very first trip there when the boys were little.

And this Niagara Falls one that we bought this year.

We have lots of ornaments that remind us of special times in our lives or skills my boys learned... Like this Curious George ornament that we bought Alec the year he learned to read.

Or this "new mommy" ornament I got the year we had our first baby.

And then we have lots of homemade ornaments too and I just love looking at the various crafting projects we've attempted throughout the years.  Like this adorable penguin Alec made.

Do you have a favorite ornament on your tree?

  1. I love personal ornaments on a tree! Ours is full of ornaments like that plus ones the kids have made. It's like opening a scrapbook every December.

    1. Thanks! Though I did find it impossible to pick ornaments out for the kids this year-- the older they get the harder it gets.

  4. I love that you have a tradition to give your kiddos an ornament each year, carried on from your parents. I didn't know you and your hubby were high school sweethearts! How cool! I love the wedding ornament!!!!

  5. Oh I love all of your ornaments and how sentimental they are. I love that you give your kiddos an ornament each year. We do that too, and so did both Brandon's mom and my mom. Have a great day!

    1. My in-laws give our kids ornaments as well. Their tree will be fully stocked when they move out on their own someday.

  6. These are so, so sweet. I love how many of them have photos. My mom did an ornament collection for me growing up and I add to it every year, either with something representing some event or trip from the year, or just something I've made. I LOVE pulling out my Christmas ornament box every year because it is full of sweet memories. And, of course, I have ornament collections for each of my kids now, too. :)

  9. Awww, I love this! Our tree is full of ornaments that have special meaning. We give each of our children an ornament every Christmas, and as they leave home they take their collection with them. So much fun!
My favorite? The candy canes and wreaths I fashioned from cheap pipe cleaners to adorn the cedar tree we cut on a friend's farm the first Christmas we were married, when hubby was unexpectedly out of work and we had no money.
Thank you for sharing with us this week at our Encouraging Hearts & Home Blog Hop and Have A Very Merry Christmas!
