Virtual Refrigerator-- Leaf Prints

Thanks for stopping by and joining us again this week as we host another virtual refrigerator arts and crafts link up.

Alec asked if we could try painting leaves and then pressing them onto the paper.  Not sure what kind of paint or materials to use to do that I searched Pinterest and found that just about anything worked-- makers, watercolors, tempera paint, acrylic paint, etc.

We went out and picked a few new leaves from the yard and then I gave the boys the option of picking what they wanted to use.

Ian chose to try acrylic paint and squirted the paints right onto his leaves.  He spread out the paint and turned them over; pressing them onto the paper.  A few of the leaves had enough paint that he was able to "stamp" them more than once.

We put a scrap piece of paper under the leaves as we painted them for stamping.

Evan chose to try using watercolors.  We had the old fashioned cake kind and some tubes of watercolors and he tried using both.

Alec tried using markers at first and when he wasn't thrilled with those results went on to try both watercolors and tempera paint.

I thought the markers looked great and we figured perhaps our textured watercolor paper was the problem.

I used tempera paints for my whole painting.

I often covered my leaves with wax paper to prevent them from tearing while I was pushing down and rubbing them.

Now without further ado I invite you to grab a "magnet" and link up your arts and crafts posts below and visit some other bloggers to see what they shared on their refrigerators.

Your art project doesn't need to be a stand alone post, nor does it need to be a tutorial.  We love day in the life posts or homeschooling wrap- ups that show art work too!

So what do you have to share with us?
