Sentence a Day-- August

I am having so much fun with these daily summaries each month! It is pretty easy to keep up with and I just love that at a glance I can see what our whole month looked like.  We did lots of fun art and science projects this month and managed to find plenty of time to swim and enjoy the ending of summer.

1.  We spent a pretty boring day at home doing a whole lot of nothing.

2.  We FINALLY made some pour painted canvases and while messy it was so much fun.

3.  We had another day at home swimming, coloring, catching up on a bit of schoolwork, and playing cards.

4.  My husband and I had a date night-- dinner at Cheesecake Factory and we went to see MI Fallout at the movies!

5.  We took the boys tubing after lunch and a rogue wave washed over the entire boat; drenching myself, my husband... and my camera! (It's OK!)

6.  We went peach picking and the boys asked to make peach crisp, peach ice cream, and peach preserves.

7. We made fresh peach ice cream and it was soo good!

8. We tried using two cups for another pour painted canvas art.

9.  We spent a fun afternoon at the lake with friends.

10.  We went on a two hour hike in the morning before the heat of the day was in full force.

11.  With the rain ruining our family portrait day we headed to Newport and toured the car museum, went to an aquarium, and drove out to the Sakonnet light house.

12.  My husband and I spent the afternoon at the wood working shop working on the cabinets for our basement mini kitchen.

13.  It poured most of the day so Alec and I made some homemade peach preserves and Evan and I made some homemade mint & heath chip ice cream.

14.   We spent a day at home playing games, working on schoolwork, and going for a small hike close to home.

15.  We FINALLY got around to make a solar oven and cooked up some s'mores.

16.  My sister and nephews came over for the afternoon to visit and swim.

17.  After a busy morning of schoolwork and errands I spent the afternoon baking up a storm trying out a new zucchini bread and coffee/peanut butter cookie recipe.

18.  Ian went to work and the younger boys and I spent a quiet day at home; Evan managed to get a quick swim in before the thunder and lightening came through with a whole bunch of rain.

19.  Ian, my husband, and I spent an afternoon checking out a local car show.

20.  My day was unexpectedly spent learning all about shell rot and helping my older son treat his sick turtle; on the upside it was a wonderful real- life science lesson.

21.  Evan and I went for an hour walk in the crisp fall like air while Alec was at karate.  We just love this wandering path near the river.

22.  I spent my afternoon making chocolate shark fins for Evan's birthday party.

23.  I helped Alec bake up a batch of chocolate cupcakes; really all I did was pull out the recipe and he did everything else.

24. We spent the day at the lake with my mom and my two sisters and their kids.

25.  We had a shark themed party for Evan's birthday!

26.  I spent all afternoon working on decorating a few t-shirts for some friends of ours that are having a birthday party.

27.  After a morning of marathon shopping I treated all three boys to lunch at Panera Bread.

28.  The younger boys and I made a crystal garden using charcoal, ammonia. water, salt, and bluing.

29.  We finally had a nice day to try out our fired alcohol ink art project and was just amazed at the size of some of the flames.

30.  We went to the park to celebrate two little girls' birthday and the boys spent most of the afternoon swimming with friends.

31.  We went to the beach for what will most likely be the last time this year.

How was your month?
