Sentence a Day-- July

We had so much fun last month!  We spent lots of time swimming and with family and friends.  It was a perfect summer vacation month and here it is at a glance.

1.  We kicked off the month right hosting a family cookout with my whole family!

2.  The younger boys convinced me to walk with them to the bridge so they could jump off and then got me to actually join them IN the lake for the afternoon!

3.  I took all three boys to the movies to see Incredibles 2 and it was so cute!

4.  We released some of our frogs, played in the lake, went shopping at Bass Pro and out to lunch at Olive garden; not a bad way to spend Independence Day.

Smallest frogs ever!
 5.  Went grocery shopping and cleaned the WHOLE house top to bottom; I never get around to doing it all in one day but I pushed through and got it done before relaxing in the lake with Alec.

6.  Had a fun day out with my mom; each year for my birthday we got shopping & out to lunch!

7.  We spent the day with my husband's family celebrating the 4th of July and ended our night watching the fireworks.

8.  My husband and I took off for the day to Maine to celebrate my birthday!

9.  My mom and my sister came over for a little birthday celebration; it's a tradition we started a few years ago and we all look forward to it.

10.  Just another day of karate class and swimming in the lake.

11.  After finishing up some chores and schoolwork we all headed out on kayak ride where the boys each took turns jumping off the bridge.

12.  We went swimming at a friend's house and spent the afternoon visiting!

13.  We went to ANOTHER friend's house to go swimming in their pool for a little pool party.

14.  I took the younger boys to their friend's birthday party and had a wonderful time myself.

15.  It was so nice to see my husband and sons finally tackle our barren yard wasteland and shape it up to plant some grass.

16.  My sister and nephews came over to cool off in the lake with us.

17.  After karate and errands we spent a quiet day at home waiting for a series of storms to blow in and blow through; boy did we get a lot of rain!

18.  With cooler temps and practically zero humidity the boys and I headed out for a much needed hike; too bad we were swarmed by horseflies.

19.  We spent our morning examining life through the microscope; each time we break it out I can't help think that we really need to do this more often!

20. We had lots of friends over to swim in the lake and visit with us!

21.  We worked all day but we finally got the seeds planted and water and we can not wait to see the grass start to grow.

watering the new lawn and each other
 22.  Alec and I went to Barnes and Noble for some new books and yummy treats while my husband and Evan went to the movies.

23.  We spent a quiet day at home and  I snuck a quick photo of Alec working with his Sculpey clay to make a new Pokemon character.

24.  The boys and I had a great and yummy science lesson making homemade ice cream in our new ice cream maker.

25.  Ian asked to make some more ice cream in the ice cream maker so we put together some homemade coffee ice cream with dark chocolate chips; it was soo much better tasting than the sweet cream M&M ice cream we made yesterday. (Recipe coming soon!)

26.  We got so much rain today that the force of the rain washed away much of our loam and grass seed; though Alec thoroughly enjoyed the downpour.

27.  The boys and I spent a wonderful day at Southwick's Zoo!

28.  There's nothing quite like a birthday party to bring the whole family together; and they just loved their personalized clothes!

29.  We spent the morning splitting wood and the afternoon hiking through the woods; I have sore muscles in places I didn't even know I had muscles.

What a view at our half- way stop!

30.  In honor of national cheesecake day my boys and I lunched at the Cheesecake Factory and brought home our yummy slices to enjoy later.

31.  After a very busy morning running errands we enjoyed a relaxing afternoon by the lake where I got to sit and read my book.

How was your month?

    1. We've had lots of weird storms where it down poured, then stopped, the sun would come out and it would begin raining again. Or it would rain on one side of the house and not the other!

  6. Now that looks like a great July! There's a National Cheesecake Day? Why did no one tell me?!
Here in the UK we're in the middle of a heatwave and I'm almost envious of your storms - we definitely need something to clear the air.

  10. Gosh, that was fun! We've tried to do things this summer but I was babysitting so my daughter could take a summer class. She starts nursing later this month. Lots of fun here. Best wishes, Linda @Crafts a la mdoe

  11. Wow what a fabulous month - this is what the summer should be all about! That palm tree inflatable looks impressive and the icecream sounds delicious. I attempted to make ice cream with my girls last week but we don't have an ice cream maker and so unfortunately the mixture split, despite my mum assuring me that it wouldn't (it was her recipe! Haha). #blogcrush

    1. Oh no! We have just begun trying to make ice cream this year and so far (with our maker) have been very successful but I have yet to try anything complicated.

  12. Oh, the time in your lake looks heavenly!! Homemade ice cream reminds me of childhood and my daddy churning it in our backyard. Would love to be with him one more time for some of his ice cream and a big hug. Love and appreciate all the great activities and learning you inspire. Your children are certainly blessed!
