TBB Asks-- All About Summer Q & A

It's the first Monday of the month and I'm joining, once again, with The Blended Blog (TBB) to answer their questions.  This month's topic is all about summer favorites.

1.  Walk or Bike Ride?  While I enjoy both I almost always chose walking over biking.  I can walk for much longer and prefer to walk in the woods where I'd never ride my bike.

2.  Favorite Picnic Food?  While I eat most any food at a picnic, the one I pack and bring most often is a nice garden salad with all the fix-ins.

3.  Pool or Lake?  It's crazy that I live on a lake but much prefer a pool!  It is a rare thing to find me actually in the lake as I do not enjoy swimming where I can't see my feet.

The pool at our hotel in Charleston, SC last year.

4.  Favorite Flavor of Ice Cream?  Maine Black Bear! I love the vanilla ice cream mixed with swirls of raspberry and filled with raspberry/chocolate cups.

5.  Ice Cream Cone or in a Dish?  I eat ice cream so rarely that if I am going out for ice cream I am getting it in a cone; unless I'm having a hot fudge sundae!

6.  Flip flops or Slides?  That's easy flip flops! While I love just about any sandal my mother in law convinced me to try flip flops a few years ago by buying me some really nice ones for my birthday and I just LOVED them.

7.  Jean shorts or Jean Capris?  I rarely wear shorts; it's capri pants all the way (or long/ wide leg linen pants for me).

8.  Favorite Summer Fruit:  Strawberries!  I love them sprinkled on/in everything from yogurt and cereal to salad and desserts.

9.  Corn on the Cob or Cut Off the Cob?  On the cob; with butter and salt.

10.  Favorite Summertime Song?  It varies each summer and I don't yet have one picked out this year.  Last year it was Cake by the Ocean.  And I can't help but think of the Fresh Prince's Summertime whenever anyone asks about summer music.

11. Favorite Summertime Activity?  Does sitting on my patio swing reading a book count?  That's where I'm happiest.

12.  Favorite Berry?  Strawberry, Blueberry, Raspberry or Blackberry?  I think we've already covered this.. though blueberry runs a real close second!

13.  Bikini, Tankini, or One piece?  Honestly I try real hard not to wear a bathing suit at all but if I do it's usually a one piece or a tankini that is not all that form fitting.

14. Dresses or Skirts?  Rarely do I wear either one but in the summer I do occasionally wear maxi skirts.

15.  One Word to Describe Summer?  FUN!

Taken on our day trip to Block Island 2 years ago.

  1. Summer is so much Fun! Strawberries, all the way, in fact, when I’m done commenting, I’m going to call our farmers stand and see if they have any yet. Hope you have a sweet summer day!

    1. We typically don't get any fresh strawberries until the first week or two of July and we've already been warned that this wet spring isn't great for them. I really hope we get some this year.

  2. I've dreams of being a lake girl someday. I love swimming in lakes, not so much the ocean. We use a town pool for exercise and we'd have to go in the winter, but man I'd love to swim in the lake. Pool just doesn't do it for me.

As for the berries why choose just one. I love berries there is something so delightful about fresh summer berries.

    1. I'm very nervous in the ocean... though I did love the clear blue ocean waters near the Virgin Islands. Otherwise I want to be able to see my feet!

  5. That summer activity definitely, definitely counts! Because it's my favorite activity too haha. And corn on the cob can only be eaten with butter and salt, so happy someone agrees with me :)

  6. Yesterday evening, I was able to steal a few moments of front porch swinging and reading. It was bliss. And then my Littlest Farmer awoke early from his nap.... :) That pool photo in Charleston makes me yearn to get back to SC. Charleston / Isle of Palms is our favorite.

    1. I loved the Isle of Palms and told my husband I'd rather stay there than near Charleston next time. Those beach islands were amazing and relaxing.

  10. Hubby and I used to do a lot of cycling together (nothing strenuous, just a few miles on a weekend) but since he started cycling 25km to work everyday, I can't keep up with him anymore! Haha. So we mostly stick to walking now. And I prefer a pool to a lake too - I don't like not knowing what I'm standing on in a lake! #blogcrush

    1. My husband always left me in the dust when we went biking; I can remember one time I had bike trouble and turned around to head home... he didn't even realize it until an hour or so later when he got home. He learned to periodically stop and wait for me after that!
