Sunshine Blog Award; I was Nominated!

I was so flattered to be nominated for a Sunshine Blogger Award by Su who write over at Ethan & Evelyn.   It really is amazing to me the number of friendships I have forged with fellow bloggers through my own blog.  

Su gave me some really great questions to ponder and it took me a good week to really answer them all.  

Q1. Your blog’s name – why have you given this name to your blog? 

My blog's name is Our Unschooling Journey Through Life.  I gave this name to my blog because I began my blog the year we made the decision to pull our boys out of public school and teach them at home.  I knew I wanted to focus on lots of life learning experiences and I wanted to remind myself and other that's learning is a lifelong journey.  

Q2. When did you start blogging?

I began my blog on Wednesday June 13, 2012 a few days before their school year officially ended while we were making plans for our homeschooling journey.  My first ever post about WHY we chose to homeschool and how I was preparing our family for this new endeavor. 

Q3. What prompt you to start a blog?

I mostly started my blog as a way to keep our friends and family members in the loop of what we were doing and to help myself keep a record of all that we were doing.  We weren't planning on using many workbooks or textbooks and I wanted a record of all that we were learning together. 

Q4. Name one favourite blogger that you are a big fan of right now.

This is a really tough question! I have lots of bloggers that I follow and have been trying rather unsuccessfully for a month or so now to write up a post about all my favorite bloggers. If I really had to choose just one it would be Shelly from There's No Place Like Home.   

Q5. Why is she/ he/ they are your favourite blogger at this moment in time.

I just love her attitude towards relaxed homeschooling and find myself nodding emphatically about what she writes most days.  It's comforting for me to read because I know she has older children and has seen the light at the end of the road.

Q6. Where is the one place on earth you would go if you received an invitation to go traveling without money bring the limit? & Why?

Hawaii I think; I have always wanted to go there (though I'd be hard pressed to pass up another chance to go to Walt Disney World!... or a million other vacation ideas I always have floating around in my head).  

Q7. What is your one favorite cheer up food when you are feeling down in the dumps?

In all honestly it would probably be something sweet and chocolaty.  I do love food in general and am a huge fan of both baking and cooking but when I'm feeling down nothing cheers me up quite like chocolate. 

Q8. What’s your one favourite thing to do with your family?

I love to explore new places-- whether it's new museums, hiking trails, aquariums or even vacation spots and other states.  I just love exploring and experiencing new things together.   (In fact we aim to explore and try 52 new things each year)

Q9. What is your dream job when you were young?

Honestly there was never one dream job.  I can actually remember visiting colleges and checking out a different program at each school we visited.  I looked into being everything from an art teacher, to a fashion designer, to an interior decorator... OK so anything in the art field really.   

Q10. What is your dream job now?

It's a toss up between a librarian or a travel agent; both seem to fit in so nicely with my love of learning, travel, reading, and planning.
