Love to Learn-- Routines Versus Plans

We are finding our way back into our routine after taking two full weeks off for Christmas and New Year's.

I don't homeschool with a plan in place.  I tried for years to plan out our year but it seemed like no matter how much I planned and how much room I left for changes or unplanned activities that might crop up we always abandoned our planner by the end of the first week or two.

Then I noticed that we do tend to naturally fall into a routine of sorts and so I started to keep a running mental checklist going of what I'd like to accomplish with the boys in any given day, week, month, or year and just worked off of that.

You can read more about how we use our routine to homeschool in this post.

  2. We're definitely routine learners over here -- I've even got a ton of posts scheduled for this year on the topic, so it's fun that you just wrote about it, too!
