All About Christmas In Our Home

It's the first Monday of the month and once again I am linking up with The Blended Blog for The Blended Blog asks; a cute little Q &  A about what Christmas is like in our home.

1.  Real or fake tree?  We have a fake tree and I just love it.

2.  Favorite Christmas Cookie?  It's not really a cookie but I love Christmas crack.  (recipe here)

3.  Home on Christmas Morning or Travel?  My husband and I used to visit 3 different family celebrations on Christmas and I warned everyone then that once we had kids I was staying home.  We've kept true to that for over 13 years.

4.  Clear or colored lights?  We have a bit of both.  I prefer white/clear lights but the kids like colored so their mini trees in their rooms are colored and I did break down and buy colored garland for the stairs and balcony for them last year but I kept the garland on the mantle clear to go with the tree in the room.

5.  Send Christmas Cards?  Absolutely!  I make mine (usually 40-50 of them) and try to have then all ready to send out the weekend after Thanksgiving. I never make them all the same but here is a photo of one of the cards I sent out this year.  I just love the shiny nose on Rudolph and the fun snow angel making paper and stamp set!

6.  Favorite Christmas Present Received? My family ornaments.  In our house we always got an ornament to remember each year by and so the year my husband and I married we got a wedding ornament.  The year we were expecting our first child we got a pregnant bear ornament.  I love each and every one of "my" ornaments and it's a tradition we've kept going with our kids.

7.  Favorite Christmas Present Given? The year we surprised the boys with a planned trip to Disney (we went in Feb. but had them unwrap a box with a photo of the Magic Kingdom inside).  They were so thrilled they were yelling and jumping around... plus, I got to go to Disney too!

8.  Stockings or No Stockings? Definitely stockings! I made us all coordinating stocking when the boys were little and I love filling them up with goodies every year... I mean Santa loves filling them up every year.

9.  Christmas PJ's? Nope! Christmas morning you'll find me in a hoodie and pj pants like always.

10. Favorite Christmas Carol? The Christmas Shoes; even though it makes me cry I just love it.

11. Favorite Holiday Tradition? Making Christmas cookies, crafts, and gingerbread houses with my boys.  We try to do something fun and creative every day of the week during the whole month of December.

12. Early Shopper or Last Minute?  Very much an early shopper.  I typically try to have all my gifts bought by Thanksgiving though I have lightened up on this in the past few years.

13.  Favorite Christmas Movie or Show? Um... I can not pick just one!  I love Elf, Christmas vacation, The Holiday, and Love Actually.  Plus about a dozen others!  You can see the whole list of movies we plan to watch this year over at this post if you're interested.

Elf : Widescreen Edition

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (Special Edition)
The Holiday

Love Actually

14.  Favorite Holiday Beverage? Hot cocoa!

15. Cookies and Milk for Santa? My boys are huge believers in the big guy so we not only leave cookies and milk but we leave carrots for the reindeer too!

    1. It was a lot of fun. They do an "asks" for the first Monday of every month and I've found they're a great group of women to link up with too.

    1. Thank you. Though I did swear I was never making anymore... I'm not the best seamstress in the world and I often found myself having to fudge the patter to make it fit/work. When/if the family expands I'll probably be buying new ones. LOL.

  4. Your tree is so pretty and I love the garland with colored lights on your stairs. Homemade cards are the best and making Christmas cards would be so fun!
