Weekly Wrap- Up: The Week I Was Gone for 4 Days

Our weekly wrap- up is quite short this week.  My husband and I got away for a nice 4 day weekend alone in Charleston South Carolina without the boys-- alone!  It was very relaxing and just what I needed.  The boys spent a fun filled 4 days with their grandparents and were just as happy having a vacation from mom and dad.

Tuesday Ian made us some chocolate chip cupcakes from scratch.  We then cleaned up and went to run errands.  We went to the library, the bank, the grocery store, and the post office.  I also spent a lot of time doing laundry and getting caught up on all the household stuff that hadn't been taken care of while we were gone.  The boys were kind enough to cooperate and work on some school stuff each completing a few pages in their summer math books and doing some reading.

At the last minute the boys and I decided to head out to a local sunflower farm on Wednesday.  They had spent the morning playing outside in the sun and we spent our afternoon outside too.  The boys went jet skiing and played in the sand.  Alec spent a good portion of the day with his nose buried in his latest book; The Candy Shop Wars Arcade Catastrophe.

Thursday the boys all started their day watching a new episode of Wild Kratts all about penguins and then Alec went to his room to listen to his book and CD and work on some Pokemon drawings.  We had to make another trip to the orthodontists office for a broken wire and the boys managed to squeeze in just a bit of schoolwork before we headed out. Ian had a friend over and we all played Trivia Crack.  The boys played in the sand and ended up swimming in the rain.

    1. I do too; we try to make an effort to get away every once in a while by ourselves and reconnect. It helps to remember why we got together and became parents in the first place.

  3. Awesome sunflower photos!! I found out there's a huge sunflower field not too far from us that is on a wildlife preservation site to provide food for the birds. I want to visit but it will be past peak soon and I don't know if we'll make it. Anyway, thanks for linking up at Homeschool Highlights!

    1. Thank you! I was having so much fun playing around with my camera. It is such a short season that this particular farm only opens up for one week.
