My Favorite childhood Books

I've been thinking a lot about some of my favorite books from when I was young.  I found my older sister's favorite picture book just a few weeks ago; a book that I've been searching for since she got married and was expecting her first child... 13 years ago!

Seeing those pictures and reading that story transported me back to my childhood!  Her favorite book was Muffin Brown Bear and Me and while I can not say it was my favorite book I sure heard it enough times to know what it was about.

So I started thinking... what were some of my very favorite books?

In no time at all I had a list of images flowing through my mind...

The Lonely Doll

The Littlest Angel

The Bear Who Slept Through Christmas

The Monster at the End of this Book

As I got a little older I enjoyed these two stories.  My grandmother happened to find me beautiful hardcover editions with beautiful illustrations that just captured my attention.

The Secret Garden

I'm sure I had many other favorite books; I've always been a bookworm and have enjoyed reading a variety books but these are the stories that stand out in my mind.  Ones that I know I read over and over and over again.

What were some of your favorite books?

  1. I love your list. I would add "The Maggie B", "The Orange Splot" and "Ferdinand the Bull".
    Blessings, Dawn

    1. Aw, thank you! I had look up each of your books; I vaguely remember Ferdinand but never heard of the other two. Off to see if our library has them.

  2. We would beg our mom to read the Monster at the end of the book constantly! I also loved Heidi and liked to compare the movie versions to the book!

    1. I think I watched a few versions of the movie with various actors along the way! I can still picture some of the illustrations from the book I had (and wished I had kept!).

  3. I still have my ancient copy of The Littlest Angel!

    1. That's sweet. Now you can share it with your daughter. I bought The Monster at the End of the Book to read with my boys. They thought it was funny too.

  4. Fun topic!! I didn't read a ton of the classic books when I was younger, except for perhaps Anne of Green Gables.

    1. I am not sure I have ever read Anne of Green Gables but I did love the movies.

  5. Thank you so much for linking at #overthemoon! I look forward to seeing what you share every week. Please come back for #WonderfulWednesday or #ThursdayFavoriteThings. Enjoy your week ahead.

  6. It is always so interesting to see what books were others favorites.
Thanks for sharing at LMM Link up to see you again this week.
    Have a great week

  7. My husband and I both remembered Sly Little Bear, a Little Golden Book from our childhoods, so we purchased it for our family, and now we're reading it (via FB message to maintain social distancing) to our grandkids and the love it too.
