Visiting the Ice Castles

One of the things on my winter bucket list was to take a trip up to see the ice castles.  My husband and I had toyed with the idea of making it a quick weekend getaway for two but ultimately I decided that as long as the boys were interested I'd really like to take them too.

I thought it would be such a new, fun, family experience.

I am so glad we took them too because they really enjoyed it a lot.  I think the younger two boys slid down the ice slid at least three times.  We ended up going on a Wednesday and even though I kind of wanted to see it all lit up at night with the colored lights we decided 3:00 tickets would allow us to drive home and not stay overnight.

I'm so glad we went when we did.  The sun was shining, there weren't that many people around and it often felt like we had the place to ourselves.

I just loved the fountain!

My boys loved the serpent carved out of ice

    1. I saw then creeping up on Facebook posts last year and I really wanted to go but they are like a good 3 hours away and we just never found the time to go so this year I vowed we'd make the time. We loved them and are so glad we got to see them once.

    1. Yeah we only heard of them last year; from what I could tell this company sets them up in several parts of the northern US and even Canada-- Montana, Colorado, Utah, New Hampshire, Alberta and Manitoba. It really was very pretty and their images all lit up at night are stunning. It was a very long haul up there and something we'll probably never do again but I did love it.
