Finding Peace in My Day- Share Our Lives Link Up

It's the second Monday of the month which means it's time for the Share Our lives link up.

This month for the Share Our Lives link up we're sharing ways and times that we find peace in our days.

I feel like this is going to be such a short and boring post... with one boy working full time and taking 4 college courses, one away at college, my husband (who is always working more than full time)... I pretty much have peace in my day all day long!

I only see Evan for a couple of hours a day when we work on his schoolwork or go driving or hiking or walking together but I have huge chunks of time where I'm actually filling the peace with audiobooks, TV shows/old movies, etc. to fill in the silence. My days feel very much like they are my own.

I read on the deck during/after breakfast or in the afternoon

I take walks in the afternoon (or sometimes after dinner with my husband)

I typically read during lunch

I have whole afternoons where I can work on cards or scrapbook pages or my paintings

Life with big kids is totally and completely different!

I hope you'll join us next month when we look at Sweet Tooth Cravings.

  2. The daily chores and rhythms change so much when kids are older. I am always interested to know how people spend the time that they have alone. Enjoyed reading about your time!

  3. Your days looks very different from mine! I definitely don't have as much quiet time as you do. But I'm sure I'll miss the chaos when it's gone :)

  4. So right there with you- reading and time outside always give me peace

  8. Being in this life stage is a lot more peaceful than having young ones around - we earned it!

  9. Transitions can be a challenge, but I would imagine you keep so busy, that it is going smoothly.

  10. It was an enjoyable read - wishing you a beautiful fall! #MMBC

  11. See, this is what I was talking about in my post. Wonderful to be able to organize your days differently now with older kids.

  12. Loved seeing your peaceful day! I do long for the kids to get older, but I know I'll miss this young stage!

  13. You are so lucky to have good chunks of time where you have peace. I feel like I am on the go all of the time at the moment.

  14. That's a beautiful picture of your road (?). I'd love to take walks there.

    1. That is one of the roads we take when we walk around the block and we just happened to turn onto it right as the sun was coming out after a short shower.

  15. This was a fun topic this month. I love reading and going for walks.

  16. Now that all my kids are in school I am finding I need noise in the background but it is so much more peaceful without kids fighting.

  17. It all sounds very relaxing and not boring at all. My kids are nearly all grown up (I only actually have one child now) but they all still live at home and I rarely get any peace.

  18. Your day does sound peaceful, Joanne. Enjoy it! My days have gotten quieter as we are not caring for little grandchildren any longer -they are all in school so only extraciricular events fill some afternoons or evenings. I spend time now trying to anticipate downsizing sometime in the future as we get older, so I am decluttering and organizing with thta in mind.

  22. I talked about you during our stay in England. Because of your home schooling. You know how I admire that.

  23. Haha! I'm the same over here! My boys are grown up and my husband is back at work, so I have many evenings to myself again.

  24. What a great season of life you are in - sort of enjoying the benefits of all the time and effort you've put into mothering and educating your sons for so many years. Enjoy it to the fullest!

  25. I really want to join you guys for this series. Hope you will continue it into the new year. My blogging is so hit or miss but love your blog and Dara's and would love to join you.

So glad you are enjoying this season of life. Looks like there is finally a little more ME time for you. Your cards bring smiles to everyone, I am sure. They are always so carefully done. Such attention to detail. Glad you are painting, too. I have crafts spread out all over the kitchen table that are in various stages of completion. Need to finish some up!! PC is being very patient, though. I just can't get upstairs easily to work on things up there.

You and Dara are the queens of reading. I have Husbands and Lovers on my holds at the library. Need to pick it up. What did you think?

Hope hiking weather is upon you and you will be sharing photos of the lake, the forest, the beautiful spaces where you trek. They bring peace to me.

    1. I hope we will continue this series too; any ideas or suggestions of prompts you'd like to see next year?

Husbands and Wives wasn't my favorite book but I did enjoy it. The two storylines are very interesting. I have definitely been hiking more and spending lots of time outside; I'm not doing nearly as well with remembering to take pictures though!

  26. You are so right - life with big kids is so different. I'm in the "thick" of it running them everywhere, but I know even that will slow down in about a year and a half when they can drive themselves.

    1. Yeah, I found once they could drive themselves it was a real game changer!
