Highlights and Happenings in May; One Sentence a Day

I feel like May just flew right by! It was a busy and productive month.

1. Gym with my mom, I had a hair cut in the middle of the day for a little trim and that seemed to take up most of my time; though I did wrap all the mother's day gifts I had bought.

2. I worked out on the treadmill in the morning then spent part of my day weeding/cleaning up the flower beds. I HATE gardening but it needed to be done. Evan talked me into a short hike in the afternoon and we went up to the tri-state marker.

Alec brought home some artwork from school

3. Gym with my mom, a well-visit to my doctor, and another garden weeded/cleaned up.

4. I spent a lazy Saturday morning at home prepping food, reading my book and doing lots and lots of laundry.

It was only 45 in the morning so I put on a nice thick sweater

But it warmed up rather nicely by noontime so I shucked it and just wore my tank top instead.

5. It was a cold and dreary Sunday but that didn't stop my husband and Ian from beginning the job of pressure washing the house.  What a difference!

6. Gym with my mom then the library and the post office. I spent the morning scraping the old paint off our front steps to prep them for new paint before heading out for a hike and some ice cream after lunch.

I feel like these pictures look dark and cloudy but it was surprisingly warm and sunny and hot

7. I worked out at home using my stability ball then spent the morning working on the blog and taking photos before picking my mom up for her mother's day lunch. After lunch I changed, pulled out a can of paint and repainted both the dock and the front step.

Such a pretty lunch view!

I got a veggie wrap with fries

8. Gym with my mom, stop & shop (in the pouring rain!), then home to clean and cook and prepare for company. We were having our hiking friends over for dinner-- thankfully the worst of the hail and thunderstorms that hit all the towns around us seemed to miss us.

9. Gym with my mom, an hour long hike with Evan, and then I spent the afternoon working on the blog and making some cards.

10. I spent my morning pulling photos for a slideshow for Alec's graduation party then we met up with friends around 10 and hiked for 2 hours checking out a totally new to us park. On the way home we stopped for lunch at Panera and I ended my not so exciting Friday night at the grocery store.

11. It was only 38 when I work up so I was digging for some warmer winter-like clothes. I went to the craft store to pick up some vinyl for Alec's project then I spent my afternoon working some more on the photo slideshow.

12. I had a lovely Mother's day; Evan and I went hiking while Ian and my husband worked on our yard; they rebuilt our fire pit and worked on a section of the yard that had gotten all overgrown. We all sat down to a delicious dinner once Alec got home; brisket, tater tots and potatoes and we had strawberry shortcake for dessert.

13. I went to the gym, cleaned the whole upstairs, did at least 6 loads of laundry, worked just a bit with plants/the yard/garden, and then in the afternoon went with Alec to pick up his tux (sadly the shirt didn't fit so we'll have to go back again).

I painted my nails and used some nail decals my sister sent me

14. I started my morning cleaning one of the gardens then moved onto cleaning the patio and bringing out all the summer furniture before cleaning and basement.

15. It was a rainy day and Evan had his friend over while I ran to pick up Alec's tux then I spent my afternoon making cards. Alec's track meet was canceled due to the rain.

16. Another rainy day so I worked out at home and then worked on cleaning all the bathrooms until it was time to head to Alec's school for our final lunch (at the culinary department's run restaurant) of his high school career.

17. Gym with my mom, home to clean and pay bills and get ready for Alec and his friends; they were coming home from school early to hang out and get ready before prom. I offered to pick up pizzas for lunch then we took photos at the park before he set off for prom. My husband and I had a date night.

18. It was such a dreary, rainy day on Saturday but my husband and I had to venture out anyway and return Alec's tux as well as get party supplies from Bj's and groceries from Market Basket.

19. Another dreary cold day where I just hung around the house reading, watching TV, and working on the blog while my husband and Ian headed out deep sea fishing; they had a horrible time with incredibly rough seas and lots of seasickness from nearly everyone on board.

20. Gym with my mom, a hike with Evan, then we stopped and picked out flowers for pots around the house. I spent my afternoon running errand and repotting plants then we went to vote on our town budget.

21. I spent a nice, warm, sunny day at home reading, doing laundry, and going through Alec's drawers to pull out all his too small clothes.

From Alec's track team!

A giant card that most of the team managed to sign..

22. Gym with my mom, then I spent my day reading, cooking/prepping food, and doing household chores.

23. We had some pretty massive thunderstorms move through our area most of the morning so I spent another day mostly reading, working on housework, and relaxing but I started to feel really sick by bedtime.

24. I spent most of my day in bed; I just felt achy with unbelievable join paint and slightly feverish but had no other symptoms..

25. I woke up Saturday feeling perfectly fine and set about checking things off my list since Alec's party was exactly 1 week away. "We" (okay my husband and Ian) cleaned the grill & smoker, fixed the beach that had washed away in our last big storm, mowed the lawn, etc. Then we all decided to get our first ice cream of the season at Bucks FOR dinner.

26. I was up and dressed for less than an hour when my husband convinced me to change and work on cleaning out the final (and largest!) garden, we lazed around on the patio for lunch and then headed out on the RZR for a muddy ride just before dinner.

First we tried raking, then we tried leaf blowing

We ended up combining the two

I can not believe it looked so good when we finished!

27. Since I only wore my new pants for an hour the day before I put them back on with a slightly cooler shirt and settled in to enjoy a day at home with everyone! Alec made a cheesecake for his friend and Ian and my husband headed out fishing while I sat down and cranked out 30 cards (in 3 different designs) for Alec's teachers and staff.

28. Busy day today-- I exercised with a Pilates video, then worked on the blog, ate breakfast, cleaned the kitchen/did dishes, headed out with Evan to run errands--- dropping off college medical forms at the doctor's, going to the library, to get gas, drop off an amazon order, went to Target, Lowe's, Stop and Shop and had my ring cleaned/inspected. Home for lunch then paid bills, cleaned the whole upstairs, and started pulling out clothes for Acadia trip.

29. Gym with my mom, cleaned the whole basement with Evan and all the bathrooms in the house, did the laundry, made a salad, and took all the trash to the dumpster.

30. It was a rainy day but I had lots to do inside to keep busy so I didn't mind-- I baked up some peanut butter cup banana bread loaves, vanilla cupcakes complete with frosting, finished cleaning the house and packed my bag for Acadia.

We'll top the cupcakes with these on Saturday

31. Gym with my mom. home to change and then off to run errands-- Stop & Shop, bank, CVS, library, picked up Alec's physical form, etc. I was home by lunch and spent most of my afternoon baking-- magic/7 layer bars, s'mores bars, cookie bars, etc. Evan and I squeezed in a quick hike and then it was time to start supper.

  9. You had a really busy month! But fortunately it all seemed like good/fun stuff. Except for the gardening, I'm with you on that one! I do not like gardening either. I so appreciate a pretty garden and admire people who enjoy gardening but it is just not something I like to do.
That is such a pretty lunch view! And it's amazing what a difference a paint job can make! As well as a good pressure wash! I've never used a pressure washer but it seems like a very satisfying job!

    1. It really does! While I absolutely love the flowers and seeing all the nature blooming around me I detest getting my hands dirty and often get eaten alive by bugs so gardening is definitely not something I enjoy.
