10 on the 10th: 10 Things I May do in May

It's time for the 10 on the 10th link up with Marsha and this month she's asked us to list 10 things we can and/or may do in May.

5 Things I CAN do now that it's May:

1. May is typically the time of year we CAN begin planting flowers and getting pots ready. I'm holding off until Memorial day weekend just in case we still have some cold frost-filled nights.

2. We CAN (sometimes!) eat outside now that May has arrived. We MAY have done that earlier this week for an early Mother's day lunch with my mom.

And, no we did not plan our matching pink outfits.

3. I CAN finally enjoy some flowers blooming around the yard! (these are the only 3 plants blooming right now but I see buds and greenery on all the others too).

4. I CAN walk down the road to see my mom; the campground opens May first and while my parents haven't moved in just yet by the end of the month my mom will be at the campground most days and I love popping in to visit on my way back from picking up the mail.

5. We CAN go get ice cream now that all the local ice cream stand have opened up for the season.  We MAY have already gotten a scoop or two.

Other things I MAY do now that it's May:

1. My husband and I MAY make it out for a dinner date one night this month-- in fact I MAY make reservations to go back to Asados since our last meal there was incredible.

2. I MAY go out on a few more hikes if our weather will cooperate!

We squeezed in a hike yesterday!

It was a bit cool and windy still but everything was finally looking nice and lush and green!

3. I MAY try to make another painting or play around with my calligraphy set; I really want to get better at being more intentional about making time to create.

4. I MAY repaint our railings with another coat of black paint; I've seen some rust creeping in but it's such a big job I'm just not sure I want to tackle that yet. (at least I repainted the dock and the front stoop)

When I was just starting... I forgot to take a photo of it all finished

5. I MAY get to eat at Alec's school's restaurant one more time before the shut it down to begin cleaning up for the summer but I won't know for sure until he's back in his culinary classes next week. I'm keeping my fingers crossed though!

    1. Thank you! I am so glad we've held off; we had lots of hail and cold weather this week and so many people I know are scrambling to bring their plants inside.

  3. Fun format for some ¨May¨be´s- love it! Your blooms are so pretty! Mother´s Day is considered the safe date to wait to plant annuals and veggies around here. I threw caution to the wind (after consulting the extended forecast), and did some planting last weekend.

  8. Eating outside is just the best- especially after a long winter cooped up indoors!

I was just commenting this on Marsha's blog- but I'm excited to go plant/flower shopping and get out in the gardens asap!

    1. I love going plant and flower shopping... but I always way over buy and have to scrounge around for more planters than I had intended. It's a great problem to have.

  9. I have been planting but have all the plants in the mini greenhouse, I am waiting a couple more weeks to plant things in the ground. I don't trust our weather.
How lovely that you can just walk down the road to see your mom and I hope you get to eat out at Alec's school before the summer.

  10. That ice cream looks delicious! We have been taking advantage of eating on our patio when the weather cooperates. It's nice to do it before the bugs get too bad!

  12. I am so excited for ice-cream season. There is a little red barn that sells only ice-cream and only in the nice weather. There are so many fun flavours. That might just be an activity for this weekend.

  14. Dinner al fresco is my absolute favorite. We have a table outside, but also one on the screened porch we can use if the weather isn't great. We have had so much spring rain. We even had some hail this week! Happy Mother's Day to you!

    1. We had hail all around us this week, but it just missed us. I was so thankful too because the hail was quite large.

  15. Joanne, you are so artistic. Even your food is pretty! Your weather sounds about like ours in Prescott. It is just now getting warm enough to plant flowers. My neighbor and I just planted our pots last week, and we've been babying them a little through windstorms and low night temps. Hope you have a wonderful rest of your May. :)
