Weigh- In Wednesday: How I've Done These Past Few Months

I know I had promised to do a monthly Weigh- In Wednesday post and I've been neglecting to do that these past couple of months. Partly because I've lost a lot of my blogging motivation and partly because nothing much has changed.

My weight is still fluctuating between the same 2- 3 lbs.

I'm still exercising and hiking and meeting my fitness goals most days.  Trying to change it up and add in different/ more exercise doesn't seem to be making any difference; though mentally I do feel better.

I'm still eating most of the same foods I've been eating... I guess that's probably why not much is changing. I have no real desire to shake things up and I just can't understand why even though I am tracking all the foods I eat every day and I'm getting a blue dot most days (that means I'm eating foods in a healthy point range) I'm not seeing any results.

I got a "blue dot day" every day but 1 in March and I never saw the scale get below 163

I didn't do quite as good in April; giving myself a cheat day every week (though one of those days I ate too few points).. and yet I stayed right around that 163-165 range all month.

So far in May I've only had 1 day that was not in my blue dot range (though admittedly I am not doing as well tracking my foods!-- but I have had nearly 30-40 weeklies left at the end of each week because we're hiking so much in this gorgeous weather).

With the warmer weather I've been adding even more salad and fresh fruits/veggies into my diet.

tossed salad topped with Boca Chick'n patty and peaches

Shrimp, veggie, and chicken breast stir fry over 1/2 cup rice

salad with peaches and tuna fish

Panera BBQ chicken salad (though I only use 1/2 the dressing given to me

pork chop, cauliflower rice, asparagus, and broccoli

quiche with butternut squash fries

cabbage soup with ground turkey

Rice cakes, tuna fish, and fresh veggies with a drizzle of ranch dressing

My favorite Panera salad is back-- the poppyseed chicken salad is loaded with fruits!

fresh fruits, fat Free Greek yogurt, granola and a tiny sprinkle of chocolate chips-- I've been trying to use this to help curb my sweet tooth in place of ice cream

salad with BBQ chicken and peaches

I made Amy's Greek bowl using fresh mushrooms and croutons in place of the rice

I made chicken parm. in the air fryer and only used 1/2 cup of pasta

omelet with zucchini/mushroom sauté and a multigrain light English muffin

Rolled deli turkey with fresh veggies

I ordered chicken Caesar salad when we out to lunch at Alec's school (he's just as good as waiting tables as he is at cooking)

Salmon (made with Penny's recipe), roasted potatoes, and broccoli/cauliflower mix.

I had a Boca Chick'n patty sandwich on a 647 Roll with butternut squash fries and leftover cauliflower/broccoli

I'd love to see the scale drop below 163 this summer... but I'm sort of resigned to this being my new weight.

  1. Don't beat yourself up! Look at those plates- they are perfect! So much color- so much protein and so much fiber with little fat- you are an inspiration!

  2. Your plated food does look good- so much healthy, whole looking foods. I'm sure not seeing results on the scale is frustrating. I used to be able to drop weight so quickly... not so much anymore. Age has slowed my ability to lose weight easily/ quickly.

  3. it is frustrating when you reach a plateau in your weight, I'm sure with all those delicious healthy meals you'll be losing again soon. you made my mouth water!

    1. I'm not so sure since I've been stuck at this weight for over a year and half now... but I'm starting to make peace with it and just keep plugging away at maintaining a healthy lifestyle overall.

  4. Joanne,
I hear you!! I too have been stuck in the same 3-5 pound weight for about 3 months...The scale has been going down a bit over the past few days so I am hoping that I am over this plateau that has plagued me since the beginning of the year...And since I fell and jacked up my knee, I am not walking as much as I was but I am doing my stationary bike..I am hovering around a 50 pound weight loss give ot take a few pounds but I am very happy with that as I originally wanted to lose 20 pounds and with all my medical issues which make losing weight a huge struggle, I am thrilled to have lost as much as I did...If I could lose an additional 10 -15 pounds, I would be thrilled as I know I will never get back down to the weight I was 25 years ago....My Goal is also to have a BMI that is not considered "Obese"....Keep up the good work and hopefully, you will start to see a change in the scale!!
    Hugs,
    Deb

    1. Thank you! I am considered overweight on those BMI scales and was hoping for "normal" but honestly, I don't feel overweight at all. So I'm trying to put all that out of my head and just concentrate on how I feel.

  5. I am also stuck at my current weight give or take a pound. The only way I've seen my weight drop is to give up carbs and sugar all together.

    1. I figure that's the only way I'll see any significant weight loss as well and I'm just not ready or willing to do that.

  6. It may be due to the muscles you are gaining with all the exercises.

  7. You do such a great job at taking photos of your food! Keep going, consistency is key!

  8. I know it must be frustrating not seeing the numbers on the scale move when you're doing all the right things. My mom had a similar issue in her 40's and she discovered that she had a thyroid issue that was causing it. Might be something you could look into!

  9. That's a shame that nothing has changed weight wise. It's must seem so disheartening not losing the weight despite meeting all of your goals and exercising.
All of your food looks so good and very healthy.

    1. It can get discouraging but I'm trying to focus on the fact that at least I'm not gaining anything and I know I'm setting healthy habits.

  10. Your food looks delicious, and you are doing better than me on the weight! 163 is one of my goals too. I can relate, and I do not have this many blue dots. So I think you are doing great! Actually I don't have a dot chart. I'm too scatterbrained to keep up with one. So you are doing awesome.

  11. That is so frustrating to reach a plateau! All of your food looks amazing. At least you know that you are exercising and eating healthy!

  12. I feel your pain! I need to lose a significant amount of weight, and it is just not coming off. I am tracking my points and am often 1-2 points below my dailies. But, only 6 pounds lost in a month. Don't give up! I'm not!

  13. Don't be to hard on yourself! You eat healthy, have enough exercise. The thing that might help is to eat more often. Every 2 hours.

  14. I hate diets. From my perspective this is not the way.
But I read a lot about connected subjects. So if you discover a book written by
dr. Hiromi Shinya: ".The Enzyme Factor", read it. It's amazing!
Thank you for visiting my blog.
Happy Today and a fine week!

    1. I don't think of my eating as a diet at all. I am embracing a healthy lifestyle of fresh fruits and veggies with lean proteins and whole grains while making sure to get in a good variety of exercise. But I will definitely check out his book; thank you.

    good health.

  16. Keep it up Joanne--we all reach plateaus. I've been eating low carb for a few weeks as I was selected to enter a clinical trail--I hope to blog about it sometime down the line. It was hard at first--no pasta, rice, bread, potatoes of cake--all the things I love!--but it is getting easier. I actually find I'm less hungry

I'm with you that I've lost some motivation, but I need to get it back desperately! But your meals are very inspiring! thanks so much for sharing, you never know who you may encourage!

  19. I think you are doing amazingly well Joanne! I seem to have hit a brick wall at the moment, and trying to get back into healthier eating. I like the sound of adding peaches to a salad so I'm going to try that next week, thanks! :)
