How I Did on my Winter Bucket List
Happy first day of SPRING everyone! Oh I am so glad to see "winter" behind us. I know that doesn't mean we magically won't have snow or cold weather anymore but it does give me hope that soon things will start blooming and the days will get warmer and sunnier. I'll be sharing my spring bucket list tomorrow but first I wanted to check in with my winter list and see how I did.
1. Go snowshoeing-- Nope! BUT that was because we never got enough snow; we need at least 6 inches of ground cover to use snowshoes and we haven't had a storm that big yet this winter... I say yet because even though spring is starting we can still get snow... but I hope not that much.
2. Go see Cirque Du Soleil-- Check! It was wonderful!
3. Celebrate Alec's 17th birthday-- Check! We had the grandparents over for a small party and Alec made us all a delicious cheesecake.
4. Organize the laundry room to match the "image" in my head-- Check! I love how it turned out.
5. Go sledding--Nope! But this was was again not my fault. Any snowfall we had never lasted long enough before it was all gone. It really was such an unusual winter here.
6. Enjoy a family dinner in front of the fireplace-- take 2--Nope! Mostly because we only had our fireplace going 3 maybe 4 times all winter. It was just that mild.
7. Put together a new puzzle or two-- Check!
8. Spend a day reading in front of the fire-- Check!
9. Try some calligraphy and some Copic marker projects-- 1/2 a Check! I used my Copic markers frequently but have yet to break out the calligraphy set.
10. Take some photos using the new tripod-- Check! We've used the tripod a few times now.
11. Have a fun date night out at a "new" restaurant -- Check! We tried Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse and were blown away with the delicious food.
12. Get caught up on scrapbooking-- Check-- I think?! At the time I wrote this I only had photos on hand up to our Disney/ Universal trip and I have all those photos/layouts completed but I've since had more photos developed so I could easily make a couple more pages.. I guess it really is a never ending project. But since I finished what I had planned on at the time I wrote this I'm giving myself that check anyway!
13. Use my photoball to take some wintery photos-- Check!
14. Try 2 totally new card making techniques-- Check!
glue and mica powders |
Joseph's coat stamping technique |
15. Host a family game night with lots of yummy snacks-- In the works! My brother and his family are supposed to be coming over for a game night but we'll see if that actually happens or not. He has 5 kids so they're usually pretty busy.
Linking up with: fine/whatever,
Good job on your accomplishments! And how did I not know it was spring today?? Well, now I do ;). The cake that Alec made looks so good. Your winter was as mild temperature wise as it was mild with snow fall? Happy Monday and first day of spring!!
ReplyDeleteThank you! We had a pretty mild winter with both temps. and snowfall; though we did have some really cold spells they didn't seem to last as long and I don't think our lake ever froze enough for ice fishing. Some years it freezes enough for 4 wheelers, trucks, and snowmobiles but definitely not this year.
DeleteNice job friend!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteYou did a great job! I need to put together a spring list. You just reminded me. I love being intentional! Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteOH yes! I can't wait to read your list.
DeleteGreat job!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWe went to a Cirque Du Soleil show in Vegas last year and it was so fun! I'd love to go see another one.
ReplyDeleteI think we've seen a good 1/2 dozen of them and have never been disappointed yet. They all have such unique storylines.
DeleteYou did really well with your bucket list! Isn’t Cirque de Soleil amazing. During the time I lived in Vegas, I managed to see three. I’m so glad you got to see them. I love your photo ball pics!
ReplyDeleteWe've seen a good 1/2 dozen of their shows (all but 2 of them in Vegas) and always have a great time. Thank you!
DeleteYou've got lots accomplished from your bucket list! My husband and I saw Cirque du Soleil in Chicago many years ago (before we had kids). It was amazing!
ReplyDeleteI really think I did a great job on my list and I'm so excited to start checking things off of my spring list (which I'll share tomorrow).
DeleteIt sounds like you did pretty good on your bucket list! I just love the pictures you get from your photoball. They are magical.
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteHappy Spring! You accomplished a lot, Joanne! I could have lent you some snow...lol I've seen a few Cirque du Soleil in the past and have always found their acrobatics amazing. Your photo ball photos are unique--I'm sur you will have fun with that this summer.
ReplyDeleteThat's okay; I am all set with not having gotten enough snow for those items! LOL.
DeleteIt is feeling a lot like spring here despite all of the rain today.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a great winter and ticked lots of things off your list. Cirque Du Solei looks amazing.
We are still shivering quite a bit but the sun is making more of an appearance so hopefully things will warm up real soon.
DeleteWay to go on a successful bucket list! That's just crazy how mild the winter season was for you.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I felt bad for ski areas and things but I've got to admit that I LOVED the mild winter.
DeleteSo fun to see what you were able to check off. Same here our winter season was not enough snow to go snowshoeing like I like to do every year.
ReplyDeleteWe've only had that problem 1 other year (the winter we first bought them!).
DeleteThat cheesecake looks amazing! I love working a puzzle over here too. But that cheesecake....I got fixated on that picture! :)
ReplyDeleteLOL! Alec loves cheesecakes and while they can be tricky to make his always look and taste so good. It was a delicious strawberry cheesecake with chocolate ganache and Oreos.
DeleteFirst, those winter photos are spectacular! I feel like I have not made time to be creative this past year. I am trying to figure out how to make that happen. I have mountains of scrapbooking I'd like to make a dent in and am determined to make that happen somehow. We are on the go so much that when we're home I'm usually catching up on people and things here. I could make time though and intend to. Maybe I should make a spring bucket list. You're inspiring!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteStill love your laundry room refresh, and those photoball pictures are so cool!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWhen we lived in Denver, April and May were our snowiest months. Not that I want to go snowshoeing, but it might be a fun place for you to visit if you want to check that off your list, haha.
ReplyDeleteCirque de soleil is one of our favorites. I don't think we've seen one that we haven't enjoyed.
XOXO

Umm... yeah, I think I'll pass! LOL. I'll just save snowshoeing for next winter.
DeleteA pretty solid winter!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteWe have often had snow as late as May so I totally get your comments! You did a great job checking off most of your list!

Thank you!
DeleteHappy Spring!
ReplyDeleteCirque Du Soleil looks amazing.
Congrats on your accomplishments, Joanne.
They really put on some amazing shows! Thank you.
DeleteHey! You did great on your winter bucket list! Happy Spring! After such a long and snowy winter I bet you guys can't wait for the warmer weather. We've just come out of a two week heat wave and today was a lot cooler. I'm sure we will have a few more hot days before we hit the colder temps.
ReplyDeleteRuth@playworkeatrepeat
Thank you! I can not wait to drag out all my spring and summer weight clothing.
DeleteWell done for getting so much ticked off, shame about the lack of snow though, but good you had a mild winter.
ReplyDeleteI certainly wasn't complaining about the lack of snow.
DeleteYou did a great job there!
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
DeleteY'all did great on this list! So many fun things!
ReplyDeleteWow so amazing photos
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you!
DeleteThese bucket lists each month are a great way to tackle new and existing projects....you achieved so much! I'd love to see you in my weekly link-up!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize you had a weekly link up, Gail. I'll definitely check that out! Thank you.
DeleteI know, it has been a strangely mild winter here too! I love it because I hate the cold and the snow, but anyone who had plans revolving around snow probably doesn't, haha. Your scrapbook pages turned out so well!
ReplyDeleteI loved that it was strangely mild here but did feel a bit bad for those that really wanted a snowy winter.
DeleteYou have inspired me to make a spring bucket list. What a nice idea to make seasonal ones :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I find it helps me make the most of each season and be more intentional with my time.
DeleteA seasonal bucket list? Now that's a cool idea. Looks like you got a lot of yours accomplished and had a fabulous time doing so.

Oh yes, I started having one each season when my boys were little and we were homeschooling. It was mostly a list of science projects, art ideas, field trips, snacks, etc. that we wanted to try since I liked to do something fun and extra each week or even each day... and it just sort of stuck.
