January 2023 10 on the 10th; This or That Edition
It's already the 10th day of the month so that means it's time for 10 on the 10th this month Marsha decided to switch up the format slightly with a would you rather edition and I'm kind of excited about it.
Here's the questions if you'd like to join in!
1. Would you rather make resolutions, select a word of the year, or make bucket lists? I don't usually remember or stick to my resolutions and same thing with my word of the year... but I do tend to make seasonal bucket lists and they help me remember to enjoy each season to it's fullest so I'd easily have to say BUCKET LISTS! (In fact my winter bucket list will be up on the blog next week!)

2. Would you rather make memories on vacations or save for a big occasion? We tend to be lucky enough to do both nowadays. But I'd definitely pick vacations if I had to pick just one. I LOVE going on vacations and we take several throughout the year-- a few small mini vacation just my husband and I and at least one big family vacation. Even in our leanest years I always managed to squeeze enough money from our budget for a vacation and that might have meant not setting aside something for the boys' college funds or our retirement. While I think it's important to plan ahead and save I also believe the future is not a guarantee and we also need to enjoy the moment.

3. Would you rather buy all the things on sale or shop your closet? Buy all the things on sale! I find it so hard to resist a sale.... I blame it on my grandmother; she loved to shop and she loved bargains and she'd bring me shopping several times a year.
4. Would you rather shed weight through fad dieting and do it quickly or eat differently and lose weight slowly? I've tried fad dieting many times and while I always lost the weight it never stayed off for more than a year or two. I started Weight Watchers in March of 2019 and so far have done a decent job holding steady with my weigh loss so I'd have to say learning to eat differently and lose the weight slowly; it's more sustainable that way.

5. Would you rather undergo some type of facial treatment or update a room in your home? I had once facial in my life and hated it... and I love to redecorate so definitely update a room in my home!
6. Would you rather watch Paul Hollywood or RuPaul? In all honesty I had to Google Paul Hollywood because I wasn't sure I knew him at all and while I had heard of RuPaul I've never watched anything with RuPaul.. but I'd have to say Paul Hollywood since I love him on The Great British Bake Off.
7. Would you rather have to wear the same color all year or not wear that color at all? If I could pick the color (like orange or yellow or brown) I'd be fine with not wearing that one color all year long but I'd really struggle with just wearing the same color as I love almost all colors of the rainbow.
8. Would you rather wear a designer look or a designer knockoff? I'd love to wear a designer look but tend to stick to designer knockoffs.
Something like this Ralph Lauren pantsuit...
9. Would you rather be overdressed or underdressed at a special occasion? I usually err on the side of being overdressed because I'd rather stand out for looking good.
10. Would you rather have only neutral clothing or extremely colorful clothing? Colorful all the way! While I love my neutrals, I am a color girl. Bright blues and pinks are my favorites.
Linking up with: Fine/whatever,
Fun group of questions- I'd struggle with several of them as I could see points for both set of choices. I agree with you on several- definitely I spend more than shop my closet and I love nothing more than a really good sale.
ReplyDeleteThere were a few I definitely debated between... which I almost always seem to do with this this or that/ would you rather types of questions.
DeleteThis was a run read~ still not sure how I would answer all because I could go either way!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThese were fun questions! Great answers.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteMarsha is so clever. Great questions and your answers are very similar to the way I would answer. Love that classic Lauren jumpsuit or pant suit. And give me all the sales. I have WAAAAAAAAAY too many clothes but they are paid for and I love opening my closet and having so many options. Sure as I purge something because it is no longer 'on trend' then bing, bing, bing whatever it is become the latest and greatest thing again. Clogs!! Got rid of my clogs...guess what? Straight legs!! Got rid of my straight legs??? Yup, they're back.
ReplyDeleteYou look smashing in all your cute bright pinks and blues and neutrals too. Good job with WW. I am back at it after gaining a little over the holidays. But every bite was worth it!!
That's how I feel about WW too! I know I overindulged this Christmas but it was all so yummy. I am much better about not mindlessly eating my calories though; if I'm going to splurge it's going to be because it was too good to pass up.
DeleteI'm working on this post now. I like your answers - I agree on loving a good clothes sale!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read your answers!
DeleteI'm a colors girl, too! I love incorporating color into my wardrobe! Neutrals are not for me! Haha.
ReplyDeleteI do tend to pair my neutrals with colors but can't imagine a wardrobe of only neutrals.
DeleteThe question that stands out for me it 'Under or over dressed' I'd rather be over-dressed and nearly always (except for gym wear) am! Thanks for sharing - do join my #chicandstylish #linkup every Thursday. Jacqui/Mummabstylish
ReplyDeleteMe too! I definitely err on the side of overdressing no matter the occasion.
Delete" While I think it's important to plan ahead and save I also believe the future is not a guarantee and we also need to enjoy the moment. " - 100% this!! I totally agree!
ReplyDeleteI love the color on you! That blue is perfect!
Thank you!
DeleteI was stumped by question 6 as well - not sure who either of those Pauls are, haha! I think being overdressed is always preferrable, and I love the colour in my wardrobe too! :)
ReplyDeleteIt shows--- and bright colors look great on you!
DeleteHow fun! I love vacations and making seasonal bucket lists as well. And I'm all about sale shopping!
ReplyDeleteI love that you picked colorful all the way Joanne. You should add your photo to my pinned FB post (Jtouchofstyle) and I'll share it in my Daily Outfits post on Saturday.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the overdressed too. Someone has to be the best dressed at an event, so why not have it be us??
XOXO

Exactly?! Plus I love any excuse to drag out my "party clothes"
DeleteOh, Joanne! Some of your answers surprised me! I didn't really think you were into shopping for yourself...but, then I remember your posts about buying several things with the intention of keeping only one and then keeping all! I am with you on the color thing, too! If I can pick the color, I'm ok with not wearing a color for an entire year. I do like Paul Hollywood on GBBS, but I like RuPaul better!

Oh yes, I am a big shopper... but I try really hard to keep it in check!
DeleteHopping over from the link-up! After visiting several links now, I think I need to look into the British Baking Show :) Love all the photos you included in your answers.
ReplyDeleteDidn't mean to comment as anonymous. Trying to relearn all the updated ropes after a long hiatus from blogging.
DeleteIt's definitely not like American reality shows; everyone is actually really nice to one another and I just love that.
DeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat great questions, they are fun.
ReplyDeleteOhh! I do love a sale and love to shop, especially when I'm getting a bargain.
My husband likes to remind me it wasn't a bargain if I wasn't planning to buy it at full price anyway but I refuse to believe that! LOL.
DeleteThis was so fun to read! I think that it's great that you made so many great memories by taking big family vacations. You are so right when you say that the future isn't a guarantee.
ReplyDeleteRuth@playworkeatrepeat
Thank you! We have been so lucky to have been on some really great family vacations.
DeleteI really like your point about the future not being guaranteed. The pandemic proved that in a big way, didn’t it? I struggle with that. My family culture growing up was all about planning for the future often at the sacrifice of the present. I am working to overcome that indoctrination and find the middle ground.

I am definitely the saver and the one that worries that most about the future but I also knew really early on that having some sort of family vacation each year was just a nonnegotiable point for me. My husband worked A LOT when our kids were little and it often felt like that week away was the only time we saw him. I knew we'd blink and our kids would grown and that opportunity would have passed us by.. so it was a weird balance I found out of necessity.
DeleteI love your answers, Joanne, especially number 2. And I also love that you include photos for some of them! These posts are super fun!

This was really fun to read and I agree with a lot of your answers! I too would rather make memories on vacations.
