How We Did on Our Fall Bucket List(s)

I know that fall hasn't official ended and won't until nearly the end of the month but once Thanksgiving has passed my attention turns from all things fall to all things Christmas.  In fact, I'll be sharing my Christmas Bucket List tomorrow!  But before I share that here is one last look back at how we did with our fall bucket list.

Go apple picking/ to the orchard-- Check!

Make caramel/candy apples again-- check!

Enjoy a few fires in the fireplace-- Check!

Put together a few fall puzzles-- Nope! I just wasn't feeling it.

Make apple pies-- Check!

Make up at least two new recipes for fall--Check! See the list below

Have a family movie/candy night on Halloween-- Check!

Drive around/ hike to see the fall foliage-- Check!

Drink hot cocoa and curl up with a book-- Check!

Host a small Thanksgiving dinner & Watch Elf (always on Thanksgiving night!)-- 1/2 a Check!  We did watch Elf but I didn't host dinner this year.

Use our passes to the Adventure Park-- Nope! By the time I was cleared for physical activity they were closing up for the season.

This list is all about NEW recipes I want to try this fall.  Here's how we did with our recipe bucket list:

  • Bacon & Pumpkin pasta from Mix and Match Mama- Nope!
  • Swedish meatballs-- Check!

  • Beef Stroganoff-- Check!

  • Pumpkin twist pastry--Nope!
  • Maple Pecan roasted acorn squash from The House on Silverado-- Check!

  • Apple Fritter Bread (also from the House on Silverado)-- Check!

  • Pumpkin pancakes with maple glaze-- Check!

  • Creamy sausage pasta with butternut squash-- Nope!
  • Baked potato soup-- Check! (though we really did not like the recipe we used!)

  • Pumpkin cake or cupcakes with salted caramel cream cheese frosting-- Nope! We were pumpkin'd out after just a couple pumpkin recipes this year.
  • Lasagna stuffed butternut squash-- Nope!-- I could not find a recipe that fit this description and I'm not sure if I meant spaghetti squash which I could find a recipe for?!
  • Reece's Peanut Butter Popcorn-- Check! (We actually had to use peanut butter M&M's since I couldn't find mini Reece's at our store).

All in all we did a great job embracing this season.

  5. You ticked off a lot from your list. I always think it's good that not everything gets ticked off. Leaves something new for the next time round. #mmbc

  6. You did a really good job on your bucket list considering you were recovering from surgery. I've made a butternut squash lasagna before that I really love if you want the recipe. I need to make it again actually as I have a few butternut squash sitting around.

  7. Bravo!!! You did so well and recuperated from surgery, too. Your candy apples are so pretty. I really want to make some. We started back on WW this week, though. I saw an idea on Pinterest of doing candied apple slices. Might try that instead. Your fall foliage photos are postcard worthy.

    1. I think I've decided I need a food bucket list each season; it really got us thinking outside the box and trying new recipes more often.
