10 on the 10th (A Few Days Early): All About Patriotism

This months 10 on the 10th ( a couple days early!) is all about patriotism.  Pretty fitting here in the United States as we just celebrated our Independence day with the 4th of July.  This month's link up is a series of 10 questions about our country and patriotism.

1.  When is your Country's Birthday?-- The 4th of July!

2.  What are your country's patriotic colors?  Red, White, and Blue

3.  Do you wear those colors on Independence day or your nation's birthday?  Sometimes.  I try to but sometime the weather doesn't cooperate with what I had picked out that particular year.  This year I wore my blue romper with the white stars paired with some red sandals and nail polish.

4.  Do you fly a flag at your home?  Do you decorate for Independence day?  Nope and Nope.  I just don't think of it.

5.  How do you feel about wearing the flag?  I don't wear the flag but I am also not one of those people that takes offense at seeing others wearing it either.

6.  How do you celebrate your country's birthday?  We always have a big family party at the lake (it may not always be on the 4th itself but we pick a Saturday close to the 4th) and it's an all day affair lasting well past dark complete with firework displays from nearby houses, s'mores, campfires, boating, games, and lots and lots of food.

7. What is your favorite patriotic song? God Bless the USA By Lee Greenwood

8.  Do you visit the cemetery for Memorial or Veteran's Day?  Any family members in the military? I don't ever think to visit the cemetery.  We used to have family members in the military but they are no longer serving.

9. How do you vote: absentee, early, or on the day of?  The day of

10.  What is your favorite patriotic holiday food?  We often make some sort of baked goods with red/ white/ blue decorations.  Alec took over a few years ago and so far he's made swirled cupcakes, a firecracker cake, and one year we had an American flag cake too.

  1. I love that you visit the lake for the 4th. We also spend the time by the lake on the 4th. My favorite part is the fireworks over the water! Hope you all had a great holiday this year.

    1. We had so many fireworks displays this year that as I stood on shore I could see 4 different ones going off around the lake. (and thankfully didn't hear of any injuries or problems with them!).

  11. I think I say it every post...that Alec is amazing!!
What a big gang you had for the 4th celebration. We have never been close enough in proximity or relationships to visit cousins and extended family. Kind of sad. My parents raised us half way across the country from all our family. We rarely saw them. Kind of jealous of the family and friends you guys had to celebrate with. Good fun.
Your patriotic look is adorable. Love the red sandals. Great pop of color.
