What's Up Wednesday: March Edition

I've been trying so hard not to talk about real life on the blog other than our Friday Favorites posts but I found it was nearly impossible to answer these questions without referencing what a crazy time this has become.  Mostly I just try to live each day as it comes and hope and pray that we'll make it through this time just fine. With that said I didn't want to just pass up this edition of What's Up Wednesday either.

What We're Eating This Week: Whatever I can find at the grocery store?

Seriously, we have been playing our menu mainly by ear as we are running through the supplies in our home and our grocery stores are just as bare as everyone else's.  We've been relying a bit more on casseroles and soups made from leftovers and items I can find in my pantry.

A few things I'm thinking of making this week include

What I'm Reminiscing About: Aah… the simple life when things were normal and we got to see our friends a few times a week.

What I'm Loving:  That we are still getting out of the house for a few hikes each week; even if we are hiking alone.

What We've Been Up To: We've been focusing a lot on finishing up our schooling for the year.

What I'm Dreading: Listening to the news and hearing all the rumors and opinions flying around.  It makes me so anxious.

What I'm Working On: I've been working on cleaning and organizing the house, planning out what materials to use for our next school year, and trying to tackle some fun spring crafts.

What I'm Excited About:
I just love Ian's new flooring and we're talking about tackling Alec's room within the next month or so.

What I'm Watching/Reading:
Other than my usual shows like This is Us and A Million Little Things I've been on the hunt for "new" shows to watch.

I started watching Indebted, Outmatched, Little Fires Everywhere, & Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist

I read a good 11 books this month; and I do in fact mean good. I enjoyed each of the books I picked up!  I love it when that happens.

What I'm listening to: My boys and I finished listening to The Trials of Apollo: The Burning Maze. We'll pick up the 4th and final book in the series as soon as our library opens back up.

What I'm Wearing: While we've only had a very few warm days I broke out my flip flops! I also started mixing a few spring/summer items into my wardrobe like tank tops under my cardigans.

What I'm Doing This Weekend:
Hopefully hiking somewhere but other than that I'm sure we'll be hanging out at home.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month:
Hopefully we'll be painting Alec's room and replacing his flooring.

What Else is New: The boys have been baking and cooking up a storm this month!  They've made waffles, pancakes, a few different types of Chex mix, a chocolate chip brownie cheesecake, and cornbread.

    1. Thank you! We are loving the new flooring. Our weather has been all over the place but as long as most days are warm enough for us to get outside I will not complain.

  2. It's pretty hard not to feel anxiety right now!

    1. I'm normally an anxious person who worries unnecessarily anyway so I have been read mindful of breathing deep and trying to let go of all those things I can not control (which is pretty much everything at this point).

  3. YUM, love all the things your boys have been whipping up in the kitchen!

    1. My middle son whipped up a batch of homemade cinnamon buns this morning; they are so yummy that's it's been hard limiting myself to just one.

  4. I've had to limit my news intake as, in this case, more knowledge isn't helping me :( I LOVE that flooring! It's beautiful! And I've been flying through my re-read of the In Death series this past week. It's nice, predictable reading that my brain can actually concentrate on -- wonder of wonders! Oh, and that chocolate chip brownie cheesecake looks amazing!!! Yum!

    1. I feel like an ostrich with my head in the sand trying to avoid any and all news of the virus. I definitely find losing myself in a book helps my mental health tremendously!

  5. That flooring looks so good! It really updates a space. I'm glad you all are still able to get out and hike. I think the fresh air does a lot for my mental health! Take care!

  6. I love "Nantucket Nights." It was the first Elin Hilderbrand novel I read. I'm waiting on her "Winter in Paradise" novel to arrive in the mail to start that one. Her stories are the best.

    1. I think so too! I just love her books. Though they do make me want to go back to Nantucket and now the Virgin Islands with her new series.

  7. Mmmm that chocolate chip cheesecake. And I hear ya, it’s about making meals around what is available. Hope you’re all well and safe.

    1. We were so surprised to find everything on our grocery list this week (though we thankfully didn't need meat or any paper goods since they were still scarce).

  8. Always enjoy your posts. And your pics. That water fall is just tremendous. I would love to take a hike up to see it. Are you doing the spring capsule wardrobe challenge? I am and wore a very similar outfit with olive joggers today. She continue to look very slim and trim...even with all the baking those boys do!

    1. I am not doing that challenge; and probably a good thing too as our spring weather has vanished! It's been so cold this week we're wearing our winter coats again.
